More heavy sedation.. Her temp has come up a degree.. She was cold from being so wet and obviously being in the field over night.. Gut has gone quieter.. Not passed anything all day.. Nasal tube in place to keep acid draining from stomach.. She's snoring right now.. If she goes bad again I have more sedation to give her.. She's had 4 sedations so far twice her body weight dose for the last 3 at this stage.. Pain meds didnt help.. hoping sedation will relax everything so it passes.. Hes checked everything else he can it just seems to be bad spasms... So if she comes out of this one bad then that may be enough I think.. While she's sleeping keep everything crossed...

Shetlands can be prone to impactions - though normally impactions don't show as vastly painful - that's why they can be so dangerous, it's not realised how bad they are until things are majorly serious. It can help to get them on a drip to try to flush them through with fluids, plus some vets (mine does) have a fluid they can flush them through with that will help break down an impaction.
If you've not had her long, how is her worming programme/history?
I hope things improve soon.

He did manage to do a rectal and felt noting.. There was some normal droppings but nothing to suggest impaction or twist or displacement..
I have has her on a worming programme vet advised since I've had her but who know what damage is in there...
She's had everything we can throw at her.. Fluids & drugs etc etc Her abdomens now swollen a lot more than this morning though and hard... She's giving up too... Vet on way back again..

Just a thought here - a friend of mine had an apparent colic case some years ago. It was very very bad, she had 3 vets out, then the last one looked at her & immediately said 'redworm' - may be worth a check, it saved my friend's horses life. Hope she gets better very soon whatever it is, poor love. Hugs to you too xx

Whatever the outcome she has had the best care and been loved. You will know if/when she's had enough. Take good care of yourself.

Thanks for support throughout the day..
She's gone. Sedation was not working. Abdomen was swelling more. She was suffering. She's not now.. She went gently off to sleep. No more pain and suffering ever again. Sleep sound twinkle xx
