When I first had Talin he seemed generally ok but I noticed if he got a scrape and it scabbed over the scabs seemed to just sit there for weeks on end and his mane wasn't growing. After he'd been on a balancer for a while his mane grew (and still is) and any little scabs healed and fell off much quicker.

I have never used balancer before but my vet has just advised to give Jade a high protein balancer because although her weight is good to low she is EMS and she isn't processing enough protein from the forage diet. I've bought Top Spec Senior and cut down the supplements completely as they appear to be in the balancer at the required levels so I'm not going to double up.
I believe it is cereal free and low starch/sugar so I'm hoping we don't kick off anything undesirable.
As she only gets a mug full a day it should go along way and not be too expensive. we are on day 2..
I'll report back if it goes wrong!

Do they give a complete analysis on the bag as there doesn't appear to be one on the website, which makes it very difficult to tell if there are any items that you may need to avoid, and impossible to see the actual sugar level other than 'very low'.

I feed lexvet, which is a comprehensive vit and min supplement - nothing else in it apart from vits and mins. It has really made Jos shine, he looks good and is feeling very well indeed!

There is one of those white sheets stitched into the top of the bag.
It doesn't give 'sugars' but it did give starch and total protein (25%) etc. I'll find it when I go to the yard and post it.
At the feed shop we did have trouble comparing the different makes as there is very little actual information even on the literature provided to the merchants. Lots of 'high' and 'low' but no numbers which is what we want.

Top Spec will give you a full breakdown for each product you're interested in if you ask for it. Very few puit this online, even those who put an analysis online often don't put all the info up.
