The Speakers
Adam Kemp FBHS trained at the Talland School of Equitation. He has evented up to advanced level but is mainly renowned for his success as a dressage rider and a top dressage coach, trainer and teacher. As a rider, he has won National titles and been placed at every level including International Grand Prix. He coaches riders up to 4* level, and now has begun helping junior event riders with their dressage. His knowledge of horse care and stable management is hard to rival. His knowledge of, and ability with, modern coaching techniques make him in demand.
Andy Thomas Human Physiotherapist, is lead practitioner for human science and sports Medicine within the British Equestrian Federation (BEF). Andy does not treat horses but co-ordinates rider performance. His role has two main objectives; firstly the prevention treatment and management of injuries and secondly to enhance the riders performance and technical ability on a horse by addressing specific weaknesses and imbalances that a rider might have.
Caroline Moore FBHS has produced and ridden horses up to 4* level, competing at Badminton, Burghley, Bramham and Blenheim, as well as overseas. In 2007 she took part in the Olympic test event in Hong Kong on Don Giovanni. Caroline, who is the British Eventing National u18 Coach, now focuses mainly on coaching riders and other coaches to improve their skills, with the main aim to develop confidence and belief by building correct foundations.
David Kempsell Saddler and Managing Director of First Thought Equine Ltd which basis its products on scientific research and has revolutionised the saddle industry. David has a fascination with ‘how things work’. Owning a show jumper who consistently had ‘saddle problems’ was the catalyst that made David look closely into saddlery and its effect on the horse’s movement. Being at the forefront of the industry David is in constant demand to give presentations and lectures throughout the world. He holds regular seminars and training days in the U.K. for saddle fitters, who attend from every corner of the globe.
Haydn Price is consultant farrier to the BEF and Team Farrier to the British Dressage and Show Jumping Teams.With a particular interest in performance horses and he has developed a specialist Equine Referral Centre. In 2004 Haydn developed the Equinalysis Gait Analysis system, now used by World Class Performance to assess locomotion. Haydn is a regular contributor to publications and research programmes, he also lectures internationally within Europe, America and Mexico.
Dr Lars Roepstorff veterinary surgeon,is an Equine Biomechanist in the Department of Veterinary Anatomy and Physiology at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. He has always been interested in horses and has ridden since a young age. He became a vet in 1985, a lecturer in charge of veterinary-related topics in 1997 and a professor in 2002. His main interest is research and teaching is functional anatomy and biomechanical studies of locomotion. His expertise is wide ranging. Dr Roepstorf organises high profile conferences and is in demand to speak on a variety of related topics all over the world.
Dr Meike van Heel MSc, BSc, PhD is researcher at Utrecht University's Equine Performance Laboratory in the Netherlands and a movement scientist and animal physics therapist with Mustad, Inc.
Yogi Breisner is World Class Performance Manager and Chef d'Equipe to the British Eventing team. He has led medal winning teams at both the 2004 Athens and 2008 Beijing Olympic Games in addition to enjoying many successes at both European and World Championships. Yogi first trained under his fellow Swede, Lars Sederholm, A member of the Swedish Eventing team Yogi won European team gold in 1983 and competed at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. He finished in the top 10 at Badminton four times. Yogi is also much in demand in National Hunt racing, training both jockeys and horses.
