Well then I am absolutely Made Up about the auction. It's looking good and it's very touching to see how much has been put into donating items and services for auction as well as everyone digging deep to bid on the items in these difficult times.
I thought you might like to know what has been going on in scouseland Shy Lowen over the recent months since we were honoured with the title Charity Of The Year again.
The good news has been that those wonderful ladies Liz Pitman and Sarah Weston came to visit. Our young Care Committee team gained valuable knowledge from Liz and Sarah's insights into their respective charges.
We rehomed a beautiful x connemara gelding called Mr Spud who had arrived with a knack for bucking off his riders. He had been reschooled by Tyler and within a week of being homed was cleaning up at show jumping competitions.
Then there was news of Walter, the British Warmblood who had come to us as a 5 year old because he kicked people all the time - several victims had been hospitalised. His owner had been very worried about whether he should be put down rather than put into the sanctuary as she felt he was too dangerous for rehab to work. I reschooled him initially before he was passed on to Megan and Vicky then both aged 15 years. Walter was rehomed last December and has been shown this summer. On Sunday he won a prestigious local dressage competition, he is a real dream who is proving that rescue horses really can come good.
Two more success stories for 14 year old Tyler were Nico and Tara. Nico was a nervous horse who, as a transformed character, has now gone to be a family horse and Tara who came with a reputation for rearing, she is now a little girl's first pony.
Then there was 14 year old Elise's success with traumatised thoroughbred Chula, a beautiful bay mare sired by Race Champion Mtoto. Elise has gently brought Chula into work as a riding horse and the dedication paid off when Chula left us for her new loan home last Sunday.
12 year old Jasmine had a success with a little pony named Rosie who found a new home but unfortunately Rosie is being returned owing to her loaner having an allergy to her....
Lots of other horses and ponies are regaining their physical and mental health as a result of the unstinting support of the young team we are so lucky to have.
On a sad note we lost Pilgrim and Marney when they had to leave us to cross the Rainbow Bridge.
It's all go at the moment, we've got floods because our site, which is often muddy, has had so much rain this year that it can't take any more.
Has anybody ever seen horses with snorkels before?
Seriously though the neds are all fine but it is extra difficult to keep them that way so I for one am hoping that the winter brings drier weather.
Don't half go on once I start don't I. Suffice to say a huge THANK YOU to all of you xxxx
PS we'll be at Myerscough demo en-mass and at Reaseheath so please say heeeellllloooooo if you're there too.
