Hi I'm hoping that someone may be able to recommend a good livery yard. I live in Compton and work in Newbury, and would like to find something nearer to where I live than I've got at the moment. I'd prefer part-livery, ideally, as work's a bit unpredictable, for a Fell gelding. I've seen some nice looking websites for yards near Didcot, so would love to hear from any of you in the area! Thanks

Hi
I am at what my horses and I both think is a lovely yard in Farnborough (probably about 10 mins away the other side of the A34 from Compton?) where they do part livery at a very reasonable price. The grazing is fab (my laminitic is actually out grazing 24/7 at the moment because of the excellent meadow pasture and no fertiliser etc!), stables nice and big and there is a woodchip floodlit outdoor school, with a small indoor school (although really it isn't big enough to ride in properly and the surface isn't great, but it helps in the winter!) and a horse walker. The hacking is lovely and the view stunning :-). It is an old farm and first appearances aren't that great but the horses don't care ;-). I never in a million years thought that I would trust anyone to look after my horses for me on part livery, but I do trust them - it is a family business and you know who is handling your horse, etc. I hope that I will never have to move my horses from there - in fact, even if I had to move house myself for whatever reason, I think I would still leave them there because they are just so happy and I don't think I would find another yard as good to be honest! I am a freelance instructor and saddle fitter so visit lots of different yards and although there are of course other nice ones, personally I don't think any of them compare when it comes to horse happiness :-) - coupled with the fact that anywhere else my laminitic would have to be muzzled and on restricted turnout because she can't cope with 'normal' grass!
Of course, livery yards are a very personal thing, so you may not like it - everyone is different ;-).
If you want to know any more then please do email me (I don't come on here very often so may miss a PM) on louise@equineequilibrium.co.uk
