Mine has never snaked I love it, carries two horses no problem. Really strong and well built, so much stronger than an Ifor!! Drive on single track to a B road to a dual carriageway. Really its the speed and wind that make you snake, slow down never brake and you will come out of the snake. I have had some scary experiences with caravans but not with the rice trailer but I DO NOT go over 50MPH ever so I don't know how you snaked. Maybe it was balanced wrong or too heavy? I slow when an articulated lorry passes me and keep the top back door closed so there is no drag or so it can't come open with the wind between a HGV and me. I keep off main roads if the wind is over 25knts.
So Jen1 I only have good things to say especially if your on a budget, I would buy another one anytime!!

off to look in a mo, taking mi truck, i could go out and buy a new one that meant to be a brag but i font see the point for the use it will get plus its will be half mine and half my loivery , to hire a trailer round here its about £50 so we wont be losing anything if we sell it on end of the year , her horse is a pain to load so its will be a good training tool, i backed my young man properly yesterday , as in sat on him , eh backing with rugs on its a doddle, lol so i want him out and about

We never go over 50 either. It snaked on a downhill, we did not brake or panic but it wagged till it flipped us round. It had been to Rice for a complete service and overhaul because of the wagging. Forgot to mention the other problem with it. The partition was right to the floor and hubbys horse used to travel terribly in it, the partition was scaped and dented right down as he couldnt spread his legs wide enough. Changed to the Ifor and he never did it again even though I bought the next size down. He used to literally be paddling the partition on every corner no matter how careful we were. He was wrse on the way home from hunting when he was tired. He was always a bit iffy to load but after a few times in the Ifor he never thought twice about going in again. I wouldnt touch another one!

We have an ancient Rice, circa 1970`s, best trailer we`ve ever had. We tow it with an Isuzu Trooper and have never had any trouble with wagging, we`ve trailered alsorts in it, from a 17hh hunter, to my mums coloured stallion and wee shetland, the length and breadth of the country. We`ve never had a horse refuse to load in it, and they`ve always travelled well.
We`re just planning on referbing it this year ... as i`ve used my friends Ifor a couple of times and did not like it.

I think the bigger IW is 7'6" headroom, 7' sounds tight for a big horse.

The only Ifor I ever used was such a trauam we'll never have another one!
Loaded Crystal in it all was fine and dandy on the journey to the show, coming home was another matter.
Loaded her no trouble set off and then heard the most almighty thump from the trailer we honestly thought the floor had gone, but when we looked we found the pins holding the fromnt breeeching bars had sheared clean off, poor crystal was left standing with nothing to brace herself onto..............so we travelled home very very slowly, and someone had to stqand in the trailer with Crystal, we did switch her to the other side of the trailer, but she never wanted to go into a trailer again after that, she will travel in a single trailer or a box with no rubber on the bottom of the partitions, but she gets very very nervous now..............when we informed Ifor of the accident they jsut said. 'oh we'll send some new pins out it should be ok now'
Will only have a Rice trailer now, trust them far more, and as everyone has said they go on forever.

My first trailer was an old Rice Trailer,..double wooden floor,..heavier than your modern types nowadays, but i had a shogun pulling it and for a 'first trailer' it was great. Must admit i too never had any problems with snaking/wagging.. (and it even did an emergency journey one night taking a very poorly horse to Leahurst). That was not one of the greatest journeys i've ever had to make in my life, but i had to to save the horse's life. My old rice trailer did me proud and it's was the longest journey i had ever done in my life up til then so i was under an immense amount of pressure too, but that trailer did it's job and although that horse struggled with the journey towards the end (as he was sedated when we loaded him),..my trailer stood the test of time and came home in one piece. It served me well.
I have a different trailer now, but i think if you can find a good solid one and you've something that can pull them,.. then it's perhaps worth a look and a think about!
