You could try mag ox too, if he's lacking in magnesium. My girlie has fantastic feet despite preferring to stand in the soggy mud than the grass to rest! (She's barefoot). To be honest she's got good feet anyway, but I'm pleased with how well they are considering it's muddy mid-winter.

Just saw this now, I use 10% iodine that I get in a spray bottle from the farm shop. (I dilute it for foal naval) and its fab on wet soft feet. You just clean foot and spray on liberally, hold foot up a few mins for it to soak in. I have used it for years on loads and usually find a few days is enough every now and then. If you put it on your skin it takes a few washes to get off but won't do much harm, but if you do, you will feel your skin dry/feel slightly tight, which is what it does to the hooves. I would only use it when needed though, and would also make sure diet has some extra foot support included.

I dont find my spray goes everywhere, ours has two different options, spray or stream, I find it easier and leave the bottles at the field gate this time of year!!! I do agree tho, wear gloves!!!!!

I have used all sorts of natural products including one of my own that I used to sell. Yes it worked, yes it was organic, yes it had all lovely stuff in it and my horses feet smelt FAB! it did NO harm to live tissue as iodine can. BUT it was expensive. SO zinc sulphate or good old purple spray.Sheep foot rot stuff to be general. Cheap and effective. It is notoriously wet and mouldy down here and those products are working just fine!
