Thank you all again, i really appreciate all your replies. Love the ball of light one, I will try that tomorrow unless he has blown away in the wind we are forecast! : / And good idea about the not shopping trip - i hate shopping unless its at the saddlery!

I know where you are coming from and I am glad you have found something which works. I am 5'3ft and am used to handling 16-17hh horses. When I did kung fu my sifu said I was good not because I was mean (like most peolpe thought, lol) but because I had intent with what I did. Something he said came from being around/working with horses.
I am quite no nonsense normally any way. Mum says I dont suffer fools gladly!

Hi Sarah
Glad the tips are working for you. Someone early on talked about not allowing the attitudefest to get going.
Remember going out to do the weekly food shopping with your 3 boys when they were young. Remember that "Right, this is what is going to happen, how its going to happen and when its going to happen" that you had to put on before you even started getting them togged up?
Well try putting that mental approach on before you go near your horse - its not nasty, or angry or unpleasant. Its just definite and in control - if you can do it with three boys, one horse should be a piece of cake!!
