Hadn't planned it but Big fella did some work today, I brought him in for his 1pm barefoot trim, gave him nice brush with a hay net, very happy boy, 40 mins later still no trimmer so rang her, shes rearranged for next week, just then a neighbour went by and asked if i wanted to go for a walk with her and her pony around the farm so said yes please ;D Big fella marched ahead striding out very well, we ended up going to the farm arena, he stopped briefly 3 times as it was high tide and there were loads of boats on the estuary (his major phobia, boats!!!) but the 3 times he momentarily stopped I gave him a second and then said come-on and he marched on with me again no problems ;D In the arena he was a giraffe initially looking at the boats but lead around pretty nicely and then i gave him a short lunging session walk & trot both reins, friend and her pony ended up joining us in the arena as he was being so good and no bucks or stressy charging/bolting ;D Walked home nicely and happy to leave his pony friend when we went in different directions ;D
In the arena, OMG mum there's BOATS!!
calm down big fella!
Got back and my bro brought over my niece for a biscuit cuddle & brush and she learnt how to pick out hooves, BF was happy grazing on his own too ;D
I'm trying very hard not to get over excited, Laura. Could this really be it... ?
Lets hope so Liz! Am trying not to get my hopes up but he does seem so much happier already, the boats and arena were big challenges and there was no leadrope chewing, head shaking or barging me just a bit of giraffe impression! Think we should make a plan for some sessions shortly don't you
