Hi Been trying out a barefoot cheyenne on my loan mare to see if it is suitable. However run up against a problem - to have the girth tight enough so the saddle doesn't slip (3-4 fingers gap), makes saddle go forwards onto her shoulders, which understandably isn't popular. She's an ex-broodmare with a foal belly to loose and we're usinng a thorouwgood dressage girth. Any ideas - or is it back to the drawing board - would have loved another FnE saddle, but can't find a 2nd hand one in my budget

That can be the problem with treeless - there is nothing to hold the saddle in place and it will drift to the point of least resistance, and with a foal belly everything is going to head forwards when you tighten the girth.

So my concern was that this was an fixable problem with the barefoot - luckily I'm only trialling the saddle. When I first got Cinny, I had the same problem and we originally addressed it with a crupper on the FnE, which has now been swapped for the v girth which works perfectly. May need to go back to the drawing board for Susie-woo and her large belly

I have the Cheyenne and it did slip sideways, I know it's a different slip, but I changed my girth to a slightly shorter one with the gel middle (Wintec?? Can't remember, the shaped ones anyway!) and use a Barnsby sticky numnah, it doesn't move now (even when I've had to get on from the ground), and I don't tighten my girth after getting on either.

a simple piece of the non slip rubber stuff (stuff used for inside caravans its like a waffle weave rubber, from the pound shop will fix it, also a professional choice girth will help too,

What is you budget for a Free n Easy? I have an older style endurance special, very well used, but regularly serviced and checked by Les. May be willing to sell it, open to offers of about £300.
