My heavyweight cob that I got a couple of months ago that was seriously overweight and very depressed has amazingly lost 100kg! He still has some way to go but he is looking good and most importantly is happy! His owner came up to see him a couple of weeks ago and couldn't believe it was the same horse. I think he was a bit worried that she would take him back as he kept nuzzling me - she has had him since a 6 month old foal but it is amazing how much he appreciates me after a couple of months giving him what she couldn't - the company of other horses - he hadn't seen another horse for over a year! Anyway I bought him a lightweight rug from the big horse shop so that I could ride him (Joanne is fab by the way!) but he has lost so much weight it is hanging on him so I really need to get him something else - has anyone had any experience of the AMIGO XL - the amigo fits my haflinger really well but it is just not wide enough for my big boy

Premier equine, amazing! We have our lovely lea, a percheron, you seriously couldn't get wider than her, and the premier equine fits her perfectly!

My fjord fits weatherbeeta rugs or shire rugs nicely (and she's big in front too)

Second K8, the Premier Equine rugs are fantastic for chunky boys. We have a shire x tb who is over 18hh and Premier Equine is the only rug that fits him properly. Wouldn't buy anything else for him ;D

I have tried premier equine, weatherbeeta and amigo (the standard one) but none fit him which is a shame as I did have all of these rugs - now all sold on ebay - apart from the amigo as these fit my haflinger! The amigo is the nearest fit which is why I was wondering about the amigo xl. I would leave him unrugged but I wouldn't be able to ride him as he likes wallowing in mud and has the thickest coat ever!

I have friemds who speak highly of both premier and amigo. I think the premier has the advantage as you can build up the system of rugs so it might turn out cheaper in the long run.

I have two weatherbetas now for Pol but still have to use a chest expander regardless to get it to meet round the front as he is so broad
