Long story short, one horse took off as I let her go after having her feet trimmed, the other two loose in corral went batty, the lead mare drove Whinney up to and over the fence she hit it with her knees and somersaulted past me - got up and galloped around with the others for 40 mins Only damage I can see is several deep cuts to her knees/legs which iv tried to clean and drowned in silvetrasol. Ive got 1001 possibilities for other little damages she may have done to her back/neck/legs and am about to dissolve into a heap now the shock is wearing off

Ouch!! Max cut his knee as a foal (tiny little pin prick - hard to see on a black horse!!), but he managed to pierce the joint sack and got infection in the synovial fluid. If in doubt call your vet as it's a fragile area. Max needed an op to flush and clean it and 10days in horspital, and 6 weeks box rest!! Hope she is ok

Just been up to check her, one knee distinctly larger than the other been stood hosing it for 15 mins. Think shes feeling rather sorry for herself being very cuddly which is unlike her - hoping shes ok tomorrow

Oh heck Bertie, how terrifying for you. I do hope W. looks better in the morning. I've only once come across an injury which punctured the joint sac - it was a pony of ours which a friend was hunting - we crossed a stream and he looked a bit lame behind when we came out the other side. We decided to take him home though there was no injury visible, bar a tiny mark on his NH fetlock joint - but by the time we got home he was terribly stiff on the joint, and an hour later the whole joint was immobile. The vet bandaged it and said it was touch and go as he'd lost so much joint fluid - we were all in bits, he was a wonderful pony - but he mended with no further treatment and was sound again within a week. I've never seen a joint stiffen up so quickly - so I would guess that W. probably hasn't done that, if she's still mobile! Hopefully it's just bruised. Jeez, these hosses put us through the mill.

thanks for the heads up steve - will examine closely tomorrow. How did you know hed pierced the joint sac?? Coz the Vet told me lol!! I didn't know anything had happened but next morning he had a HUGE knee, so called the Vet and whilst waiting hosed his leg and saw some blood in the water! The Vet clipped the knee to expose the wound and had a poke and a prod and sent us to Liphook and he needed an emergency op to flush the joint. He also had to have serious amounts of anti-biotics to keep the surgical wound clean etc. Was a proper nightmare!! This was him at Liphook a few days after surgery:

Crikey Bertie, she likes to keep you on your toes doesn't she?!
Fingers crossed there might not be anything too serious, Talin and I got away with nothing more than a wee bit of tension in one side of his neck when he fell over long lining so hopefully whinney might have bounced ok as well.

Went and checked her at 4.30am on way to milking she was laid down, cue me panicking lol got her up and shes seems to be ok. Totally sound in walk, didnt trot her up though. Cuts seems fairly superficial so fingers crossed. My sister is home tomorrow (vet) so will get her to work for her xmas turkey and check her over. Granny has been dispatched to find some willow branches to offer her if she wants some pain relief but she seems surprisingly ok
