My two average 15 each in a 24 hour period. More in the spring/autumn and drops off a bit in the winter.
I saw Jane Van Lennep's From Bucket to Barrow talk and I THINK she mentioned around once every 2 hours so that would tie in.

It also has to do with the size of poo's. June knows Flynn very well his are HUGE piles but there are certainly less then the smaller piles of nuggets by her dainty Polo ponies EXCEPT one who is tiny but does piles the size Flynn deposits. Now he is full RID so one would expect that, but to see the ones left by tiny polo pony was shock! thought Flynn had escaped!. I know this as I helped the summer poo picking for over 50 odd horses .. and it was no mean task daily. Funny when he first joined Lucy the piles were exceptionally huge and we discovered her pony was pooing ontop of Flynns..suppose it is a gelding thing to do.

OMG!! 7.5 tonne a WEEK!! I was cursing today as our 5 are currently using two adjoining fields. One with foggage and one has next to nothing. The gateway between the two is mired up to the knees in sticky mud, all the poo is in the foggage field (which is furthest) and I had to pull 5 barrowloads backwards through the slop, across the bare field, through another gate and up the drive to the muckheap! If I am not superfit with a body like a (wrinkly ;D) supermodel by March, I will be furious! Had to lie down at home afterwards, with a packet of chocolate chip cookies and a wheatbag on my back, lol ;D

I think the important thing is to find out what is normal for your horse, and noticing variations in amount colour consistency etc. Mine would do 1 every 2 hours on average. Little pony would poo on top of his mare's poo too. When he started to get poorly I knew, when his poos suddenly got really small & hard. That was often the start of lami. As for June's lot: You have to see it to believe it. I only help occasionally and to be honest I can't really do more than 4 barrows on my own at any one time, but the grooms and regular helpers do loads each, every single day, whatever the weather and however difficult it is to scrape the stuff off the mud!!!

My 2 supply around 10-14 each a day when out 24/7, tends to be more when mild and dry weather! On wet days there are reduced in numbers as they tend to huddle together more.
Timmy has a knack of producing 5-7 small piles if he comes in for an hour whilst Shadow is being ridden, he can also produce over 7 out on a hack if he is in the mood!!!

Ha ha, I had to LOL at this thread as I thought it was only me that religiously counts poos! I reckon a good average is one every 2 hours, this drops a bit in Winter and de[pending on how much grass they are allowed in Summer.
