I was feeling a bit fed up. OH has just been in hospital with back problems (he broke three vertebrae two and a half years ago, one still hasn't healed) and we have had a worrying year financially. Then I gave myself a mental kick up the bum and decided that I had lots of things to be happy about and thought I would say thank you on here, since many of them are horse related! 1)Thank you to Carol and TeenaE for becoming my yardmates and friends this year. We have had some great rides and laughs and help each other out all the time. 2) Thank you to Ladyndibs, who gave my little mare, Silky, the most wonderful home I could ever have wished for and also became a lovely new friend for me! 3) Thank you to my oldest son, for helping us out financially, so that I could keep my girls, and to my mum, who has helped out in a crisis or two! 4)Thank you to Kelly and Monty and all the people who volunteered at Hadlow demo with me (esp Kathrine-Epona for the lift there and back!) for a really enjoyable and memorable day. 5) And a thank you to all the people on this DG, for providing advice, help and sheer entertainment ;D. I hope you all have a great Christmas and a Happy and Peaceful New Year 6) Finally - thank you to my two girls - Blaze and Jasmine - you are the sun, moon and stars in my life and I love you both very much. For all that you give me - and it is a LOT - I am so grateful xxxxxxxxxxxxx. Please feel free to join in

What a great thread! I have had a very hard year in many ways, but I also know that I have an awful lot to be thankful for, so life is definitely not all bad. I have had wonderful support from many great friends through my hardships this year and it is all very deeply appreciated.
But special thanks go to Gem and my lovely OH, who will be with me for support when Cosworth is put to sleep on Tuesday.
Gazdag continues to keep me cheerful and entertained however, it's impossible to feel sad for long with such a character around, so special thanks as always to Heather Moffett for telling us all that the Lipis were for sale!

Jennyb - Thank you for sharing your stories with Cosworth, I really enjoyed reading them. So sorry that you are now faced with this decision, hope you are Ok, and that his passing will be smooth.
Also thanks to everyone's support I've had over the years with my major ops, and with my boys ailments and their passings.
It's fab to be part of a large group where people value their horses (dogs and cats & mules) with such intent that they will never suffer or know bad ownerships.

My biggest thanks must go to my OH who has made it possible for my dream to become a reality, I have got three lovely horses all differant and all gorgeous, I couldn't have done it without him.
There is a extra special place in my heart for Lady and without his constant encouragement (nagging) I wouldn't have her though we are probably completely unsuitable for each other when she comes up for a fuss, well I'm just putty in her hooves lol.
BJM who was willing to let me take on Silky, I have always felt that was and is an honour because I know how much she still loves her, also for the friendship and support she has given me.
Lizp who has helped me regain the trust of my special Lady.
All the people whose stories have touched me and made me feel that there is somewhere to turn and I'm not alone.

Where to start........i have so much to be thankful for.......... My OH for standing by me through these last 4 years.....we have been through so much together but are still going strong! ;D My beautiful dog ,Dominic, who has got me through some pretty tough times,he is my baby and i would be utterly lost without him. To new friends and old..........who are always there for me. My gorgeous girl,Roxy, who stole my heart and has given me a reason to keep going, even through the worst times of this past year. My fantastic family who have been there to pull me through, pick me up (and given me a much needed kick up the bum at times!! : I truly do not know where i would be without them. And to everyone on here......thankyou for being so welcoming and accepting of new members,i am so glad i finally found somewhere with like-minded people. I forget sometimes just how lucky i am..........xxxxxx

Gratitude is the most wonderful thing because it gives the receivers a warm glow but by all accounts does even more for the givers!= and a gratitude diary is highly recommended.
I'd like to thank all the jolly people who come on here helping each other so I know the 'spirit of IH' is around even when I'm not connected with it all! All the helpers at demos - without whom the demos couldn't happen. Michelle P for taking over as charity organiser. "Those who must not be named" - that is the MODS - who have ensured the survival of this board through thick and thin. Sarah Weston for doing such a great job with the IH Magazine plus all those RAs who come on here occasionally such as Liz Pitman, Garry Bosworth, Rosie Jones and others.
My personal wish for 2012 is I that I only see my vet, Dr Jessica Kidd, to have a chat and social catch up - though I must say I've been grateful to her over 2011 to deal with my boys odd 'niggles' (including a Kissing Spine operation for George!) and I'll do my best to pass on all that I've learned through these 'lessons'!
Happy Christmas Everyone!
Kelly xx

I think the biggest thank you I owe is to Lorna Rowland, as she's fixed my pony ;D She heard his plea's for help when no one else knew what he was on about, without her he'd have probably been starting 2012 as a retired 7 year old and instead I'm booking riding lessons and looking up show dates to do some trec and dressage!
Next is my OH who is really, properly my partner and supports me in everything I do and doesn't complain about the endless mud, hay and horsey worries.
I want to thank Sharonh for moving her Henry in with us at about this time last year. Henry is Talin's best buddy and has been wonderful for him, and Sharon has become a best friend to me.

I would like to say thankyou to all those who have offered and continue to offer us support through this difficult time of uncertainty of our future and where we are to live etc.
Those first few days after the shock of that awful letter and news it was lovely and strengthening to recieve all the ideas, suggestions, empathy and love.
Thanks again Amanda

I would like to say thank you to my best friends (animals), my best friend (human) and my mum.
My mum would always help me out financially so I wouldn't have to sell my horses as she knows what they mean to me.
My best friend always listens to me whether I am sad or happy.
And my animals always make me smile, my horses bring me peace, force me to get out of bed when I don't want to, spend ALL my money ( I would be a very wealthy lady without them), teach me all the time and love all their charachters. My cats are always there like little raptures when I get home waiting to be fed. They make an empty home feel like a home, all mewing with their individual noises, squabbling with each other and generally being pests, love them all ;D
Jenny so sorry to hear about Cosworth. Hope all goes well xx

My dogs - always there - always a welcome. My ponies - always there if they think there will be food, anyhow. My employers -always kindly, always forgiving of the way I lose dusters, polish, and dear knows what else. The two blogs which have asked for my posts - giving me a real fillip over my writing! My literary editor, for always being so kind in the way she puts things.

Great thread! I would like to wish everyone a merry Christmas first of all. I am thankful for all the wonderful family and friends in my life - those who comfort me, support me, rescue me in times of dire need (Carol!), cheer me up, and advise me. I am thankful for the gorgeous equine and canine that I am priviledged to be a slave to - without them I am nothing. I am thankful for just being alive and enjoying the ups and downs of life :-) I also hope that all our dreams come true next year - best wishes and love to all my dear friends on here!

I'd like to thank everyone who has supported me though a difficult year.
In particular, I'd like to thank Kelly for being so understanding and for running an organisation that has places for broken RAs! I'd like to thank Bridget for helping out in Essex and taking some of my workload on from me. And Sarah Weston for being such a good buddy and a good listener.
I'd also like to thank Cheryl for helping with Toby and to Bernadette for offering him a home.
And everyone else who has been fab this year, thanks to you all too!
