this has probably been done before. OH brought me a flexi girth. The elastic looks like it may pinch? Do any of you use them? Does anyone use them with a girth cover of some sort? Do they do what they say on the packet? No idea why he brought it - may be he saw my saddle slip at sometime in the past millenium Oh well - thoughtful so can't complain

Be careful as it is quite easy to over-tighten with an elastic girth. When you tighten an ordinary girth, once the saddle settles and the horse relaxes you will often find the girth is quite loose and the saddle is still secure without too much pressure from the girth. With an elastic girth the elastic takes up the looseness of the girth and keeps pressure on. This is fine if you need a continually tight girth and saves having to check it, but very often the girth does not need to be that tight. If you need the extra flexibility they are very useful, but I have seen may cases where the rider tightens the girth so tight the elastic is stretched to maximum and the poor horse gets no benefit from the give in the elastic. I would suggest giving it a try and see if it works for you.

I've used one for ages, I really like them. I can't see how it might pinch? Never had any problems with pinching. My auntie is a very good saddler down in Surrey and she really rates them, in fact I bought mine from her.

I use them. No issues with them, but I always use a girth cover anyway.

I use one, mine love it. I made the mistake of trying a different girth and had a very upset pony lol.

We have the dever girths that have elastic on each side.. both sides are done up with the saddle cloth on between girth and pony, no pinching and no over tightness either.

That sounds all good. I'm not a great one for cutting my horse in two to make a saddle stay on!! ;0)
I thought the elastic itself may pinch as it is next to the coat rather than over a saddle cloth or piece of other girth material as some elastic girths are-- as in get a bit of coat caught in it... you know as you stretch it and release it again- I was just wondering.
I'll see what his worship thinks of it and also the little table pony, also Bazil being a barrel is always a bit of a worry of saddle slip . Doesn't happen much but....

Thumbs up from me ;D think you would have to be pretty ignorant to over tighten it tbh, also never had a problem with it pinching.
