Every life has purpose, however trivial we think that purpose is.. I thank GOD for my dartmoor hill pony who helped take a potential rapist off the street. Would I ever sell him? well.. would you? no I don't think so.

Thanks everyone x Yes Heather I met the lady who is co-ordinating the Moor pony resources (forgotten her name duh lol), it all sounded very promising. I think Nat asked if they wanted me to attend the meeting but they never got back to us and I got busy and forgot to chase it lol! Please do pm I'd love to see if I can get involved in some useful way for sure!! We'd love to have you on board! I'll pm you when the next meeting is due. Heather

not hopeful but upping this again. I walk past these every day and the dun foal that was mentioned is really lovely. Very small and delicate.. I know you shouldn't single out one not to be killed but it would be an awful shame with the dun.

If i had more land and time i would take one but currently working with merry my unhandled dartmoor and its so rewarding.
I have sarahs book its fantastic but how long should each session with merry last? i set my phone to 15mins and in this time i also walk away for few mins at a time i dont want to overdo it or stress him out.
good luck finding homea for them x

Short sessions are good as stops them.getting bored or frustrated but as you do more you should be able to tell if he can.do a bit longer or needs less. Just use your intuition as you go along, if you ever feel you've pushed it a bit far just go back.to something really easy and leave on a good note.

Short sessions are great with a little break between them. Providing you keep the adrenalin low, you can go on for longer always trying to end on a good note and at a level just below the furthest point you have reached, i.e. end on something easy. At the courses we work with the ponies for a couple of hours a day and they do fine...

Have had some takers for foals I'm glad to say, a very nice fairly local lady is coming to collect the 2 on Saturday, the one who fell in the pond and a little bright bay colt, great news! Maybe we should push some more in the pond lol??? It get's the sympathy vote!
Also looks as though a lovely lady from the midlands is going to take the Dun colt and one of the fillies. Also have another local coming to look/select one on Sat.
So 5 little lives saved, just 10 more to go! Thanks for spreading the word DGers! xxx
