Hi I'm Laura, live in Essex and aged 40 something! I have 2 special boys in my life ;D Big Fella who is 9 yrs old and a 16.3hh dutch warmblood and my reason for getting involved in IH, Ive owned him for over 4 yrs and have learnt so much whilst working through his behavioural and physical issues, hes loads better but not the finished article yet and still a work in progress Here is the handsome devil and then there is my little Biscuit a 13 yrs old rescue mini shetland who was abused and then dumped over a gate where a rescue centre took him on, I loaned him from the rescue centre before taking him on permanently when they closed down, Biscuit is Big fellas companion and Ive had him over 3 yrs Here he is when rescued at the rescue centre after treatment to his back and leg and this is him this summer winning his first in hand show and his first pony rides

What a great thread, learning so much about people and ponies. Right, I've had 50 years on earth, started riding aged 8 til early twenties, had a big gap in the middle then started again with my daughter about 7 years ago. Bought my first ever horse 3 years ago, who was Jade the laminitic 18 year old caspian for my daughter, partly as a riding pony and partly as a companion for the soon-to-be purchased Biggs. Martletwy Sally (Biggs) arrived and took over our lives, 16h of 9 year old exuberant section D with issues that could fill an encyclopedia. We now also have Amber the haflinger, posh name Wariska, known affectionately by my OH as Pamela Amberson, blonde and buxom! Started under saddle about 10 weeks ago and doing really well although on the ground she can be a little forthright but we are getting there bit by bit. 7 years old in body but definitely not mind. Biggs at the yard fun show, waiting to start the egg and spoon Biggs doing the Welsh 'dressage' Amber getting the hang of being ridden Amber learning to whistle Jade and Amber on fun show day Jade the Caspian with her loaner Jade at the Animal Blessing looking pretty fit for her age

I'm Nicola. I'm an ex biochemistry lecturer and now stay at home mum to our 3 year old daughter. We currently have 2 horses. One a retired ex-racer called Red Forest who is now just a companion having finished racing with navicular.
We also have Strait into Starlight (Cody) who is an American Paint by Bueno Starlight and We bought him 2 years ago. He will be 4 in February and I'm looking forward to backing him (which may or may not have to wait until my daughter goes to school in September). My intention is for him to be a family horse who will mostly be a hacking horse with me until my daughter is old enough to ride him and then she can do whatever competitions with him (or not as the case may be). My heart lies in hacking and jumping. One day I'd like to take Cody show jumping.
Cody is in my sig below and I recently did a pic spam thread about him.
I think we may well be on the lookout for a lead-rein pony in the spring/summer.

Hi I'm Amanda. I'm 38 and live in Coulsdon, Surrey. I work in corporation tax in Crawley. I have a 7 year old trakehner x section D mare called Bonnie. I rode a lot in my teens and looked after 3 horses for a few years then. After a long break I started loaning a cob called Flash then I found out another horse on the yard was for sale which is how I fell for a pretty face and bought Bonnie. I have had her for just under 1.5 years. I should have bought a been there done it horse but here I am with a youngster due to heart ruling head. However if I hadn't hit problems, I would never have looked for answers and would never have discovered IH and I am very grateful for all she has taught me. I wish sometimes I had a push button ride occasionally as well for moments when my confidence needs restoring. As well as teaching me how much I need to learn on the ground and ridden, her LGL that she came with has also forced me to learn a lot about hooves and for that I will be forever grateful. I have started having EE lessons this year and feel as though I am on the bottom rung of a ladder but hey at least I'm on the ladder :-) I don't have much in the way of piccies on my iPhone. The pic I have attempted to attach is our first dressage test in Feb. we've come a long way since then ( on the whole). her. Attachments:

Hi, I am Laura from Oxfordshire, work in nuclear decommissioning full time and am a DIYer (hopelessly possessive about my horses) my two latest horses and hopefully my forever horses Arnie Belgian Warmblood 8yrs bit of an unfortunate start in life and as a result rather stressy and easily upset, not helped by the fact he has no soft pallet. (Although to be fair I know how to avoid stressing him now but its taken 2 years to get there).Would happily skip field time & hacks and likes his stable and the school. We do XC SJ Stressage and some Working Hunters. Ben is a 4yr old 'interesting coloured' AES and son of a mare I used to SJ, he has some good SJ bloodlines and I hope he will deliver the goods, I also hope to do some dressage, fun rides and a bit of everything with him in future. I am quite open minded about how people keep/train their horses but like everyone I have a few soapbox subjects ;D

I love this thread too! Very interesting to learn so much about everyone. I'm Anne, I'm 31 years old and live in Oxfordshire, although I actually grew up in Luxembourg where I lived till I was 18. I work for Natural England as a Land Management Adviser. Have ridden since I was 8: Got my first pony aged 13, the sweetest and most wonderful pony I've ever had, Galaxy, 14.1hh piebald mare. When Galaxy developed arthritis and so had to take life a little more slowly I got Pierre a 14.3hh Arab gelding When I was 21 and finished University I decided to stay in England so brought our 3 ponies over from Luxembourg The little chestnut is Ferrari (aka Fifi) who was my brother's pony and is now out on loan to a 9 year old girl, but before that I had a spell doing Mounted Games on her for the Oxfordshire team. Grrrrreat fun!! In 2007 I sold Pierre and bought Lady, a 14.1hh 4 year old skewbald mare. Had three fantastic years with her. But she's a challenging pony and sadly over the last year things have all gone a bit pear shaped. It's a long story (which there are other threads about) but sadly I have now lost too much confidence to carry on with her. So that's me, had some fantastic times with horses and hoping to have many more, when I can get my confidence back.

I'm Kanga, I live in Ireland and I am 128 years old. I have a 7 year old 16.1hh ISH called Flynn who is an utter fool and I adore him, a wonderful 23 year old black splash 'batty' mare called Bidi who has retired with me, and a 12 year old welsh B type pony Bambi who owns my daughter Faelen, 7. Here's Bambi and Flynn sharing a typical tender moment this summer. We are happy hackers with infant dreams of doing more show jumping. Not me... the smallish.

No surprises here - I'm Liz and am far too rapidly approaching a birthday I don't want to think about. You might be able to guess what my profession is! I live in north Essex with my husband and our motley crew of rescues: ponies Jinx and Zorelle, dogs Harley, Bobbert & Nola, and chickens Harriet, Sally and Fan. Some of the crew (World Horse Welfare) Jinx Zorelle - my little Spanish meat pony Sally (she says she's a very serious chicken) Harley Nola and last but by no means least, my soulmate Bobby aka Bobbert
