I might be moving to a place near Cricklade, are there any DGers around? I may well be asking for ideas on hay suppliers, feed merchants etc. Plus I will need some friends ;D

Yes me (waving)
Whereabouts are you moving to 'near Cricklade'?
I live in Minety, which is about 6 miles from Cricklade on the way to Malmesbury, but my boys are at Leigh, which is half way between Cricklade and Minety, on the edge of the Cotswold Water Park.
Happy to help with anything I can - PM me if you prefer, I usually check in here 2 or 3 times a week Fx

Oh excellent! ;D I think we met years ago at a DG meetup at an Indian?? I will (hopefully) be VERY close to you. It looks like a really horsey area, so hope I will find some like-minded people

I was born near Cricklade (Chelworth) right next door to a livery yard... my parents moved! Went to Cricklade show last year, lots of fun although putting a fair ground behind a hedge next to the showing arenas not the best idea!

The curry was down Salisbury way wasn't it? Gosh, I'm amazed at your memory.
hmt - is that Chelworth Fields you were next to? I've been to a couple of 'do's' there but they only have a single school so don't have very good warm-up.
I missed Cricklade Show this year, but we have done dressage and jumping classes in the past. Great fun.
Mostly now I do hacking and fun rides, but yes, Hannah, it's very, very horsey and there's always loads going on.
Let us know how the potential move progresses....keep in touch Fx

I lived in Cirencester for 3 years. There's a feed merchant in Ewen that stocks an amazing array of feed (wish I'd bought a lifetime supply of unmolassed sugarbeet shreds, only place I;ve ever found them ). Another place to get feed is Countrywide but it's more expensive. There are 2 tack shops in Cirencester, and if you want more choice Stroud Saddlery is well stocked.

I am between Minety and Leigh which is about 5 miles from Cricklade towards Malmesbury with the horses and live in Swindon. I supply Simple System horse feed and can do small bale straw for £3 a bale. I can also supple some hay depentent on how much you need for winter/number of horses only large round but they are £30 each which I think is quite a good price. I can also point in direct of some cheap but not alway brillant haylage, some bales are brillant other are abit stalky and have found mold so alway feed it in field and throw rubbish away they don't eat.

Keep us posted it would be great to meet up at your new yard. If you need lots of hay does that mean lots of horses?

I think a DG meetup would be fabulous. If we're peckish, the curry houses in Cricklade have a very good reputation!!
Lucky you with your own yard - very much look forward to hearing lots more about you and your horses, and will be delighted to show you around
I use Henry Cole but the staff can be very grumpy!! LOL. I try to use Ashley Feeds in Malmesbury as they are a small local firm and are reasonable and always nice
Hope the move goes well and look forward to meeting you (again) Fx

I have three horses, is that lots?! I just need to get enough hay in to last me. Will definitely be up for meeting people, I know no-one! Though I did meet fee a loooong time ago. Keen to try the curry houses Especially as hubby will be away all summer. I will save this thread so I can find it later for feed merchants. Thanks all. One more question! Vets? Horses and also for the terriers, suggestions please I hope you all will want EE lessons when I move in ;D ;D

Bourton Vale Equine vets ,based near Bourton on theWater 01451 820137. Sure they cover your area . No dearer than any others and in my opinion the best in the area.Specialist horse vets ,large practice and always quick to respond ,several vets in practice, with their own operating facilities etc.
Vets in Cirencester I would recomend for small animals are The Sidings, and Benson and Babs.
Curry house sounds good to me. Let us know when you move in.
