I found a chart that someone had posted on another message board yesterday, which is a horse and owners personality decoder made by Holistic Equitation in Australia. I filled it in an then set about trying to find out how to decode it on the net, whilst I was looking I stumbled onto the Jung/Myers-Briggs personality test. I filled in the test and it actually gave a pretty accurate description of me. I then started to wonder how our personality type could effect what type of owners/trainers we are and we we deal with out horses. Does anyone know if there is any research on this? Heres the link to the test is anyone would like to take it www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/jtypes2.asp

Myers-Briggs is very well known. I don't know if there's any specific research with horse owners, I do know on a computer game forum I frequent the most common type is INTJ even though it's less common in the general population. I'm INTJ

i do believe tina bettison writter of an equine training system called 'fizz coaching' has done some research using various personality tests. its a few yrs since i read any of it and cant rememeber exactly what the research was into. but she is a human sports phycholagist that went into mainly coaching of riders with confidence issues using NLP. this is her online blog shes ever so friendly and im sure she would point you in the direction of any reasearch that has been done in the area if you dropped her an email. fizzcoaching.wordpress.com/feel-that-fizz/

You make an interesting point. I'm familiar with myers-Briggs from my own work. I suspect the are some riding instructors who would do well to familiarise themselves with that kind of theory

Yes one of the IH Students did a brilliant project on this and it's on the Members Section of the IH website. Kelly

I am an INTJ.
MASSIVE Jung fan, he's one of my all time hero's.
Well worth doing if you need some help with self awareness, and fun even if you don't.

it's a pretty interesting test and the result I always get describes me down to a tee! I've taken the test several times over a period of months when there's been all sorts of different stuff going on with me, and it's always come out the same. Another INTJ waving a hand in the air, here!

IINJ for me. It's not entirely what I expected, but I ignore a lot of my personality
