Was thinking about this overnight. There are lots of activities for tourists worldwide to celebrate their hobbies. The man featured in our bull fighting thread is making a living, he has beautifully trained horses, and ‘learning to bullfight’ well that’s a good theme. The economy is in pieces in Portugal, why not? £50 is a lot of money to a yard. I can see hobby riders coming and going from his yard, taking video and pictures to showcase their riding on his schoolmasters. What fun, that’s what holidays and these experiences are for.
Where it does influence the DG is when we can’t respond on the thread to how we feel about anything without feelings getting hurt. There are incendury words in animal rights. You don’t deal with fox hunting as a contentious topic in the UK anymore because there is none. Here’s it’s a very difficult area, as it’s an important part of the social fabric of the countryside etc. I’ve hunted, worked as photographer at hunts and I for one wouldn’t get drawn in or post for a chat about it even if I would never hunt again myself (too much of an eigit for one thing!). In terms of riding, I do accept that only real fox hunting has the dynamism and thrill of real hunting.
The words ‘bull fight’ was bound to provoke a response and if I ever get a chance to play at it when overseas at one of these yards, maybe I would. However, I would have to be understanding about some people getting instantly upset if I posted my holiday videos under that banner. We can’t set up personal threads and tell people they can only say anything but good things. We all have a troubles. I would suggest, perhaps, depending on the circumstances, we have to say nothing at times.
