Hey everyone,
Just thought I'd let you know I've had a lovely email from Tracie who is doing amazingly with her pony Wispa. She has gone from rearing, pawing the ground, barging and was being led in a chiffney to being led like little lamb! She sent me a lovely photo of the two of them too : )
I also have a question for you..... Kelly said that we really didn't need to do join up with our horses more than 2 or 3 times but after you have done your initial join up, when should you do it again or do you even really need to?
Personally I think it's made a difference with Gabe. Out hacking by herself she can be quite tense and nervous but I took her out yesterday and she seemed a lot calmer. I even had a little canter (and managed to stop) which is something I haven't done before so feel very proud of myself!

Hi everyone, well do you remember seeing that video with kelly sister and the Grannie hitting the pony? Had we the same exact experiance on sunday at a charity ride, 3 people trying to load a horse. Pulling, hitting & pushing. 45 mins later, horse was rearing, no way was it going to load. Then..thanks to a certain IH course show off, haaa It was loaded in 10 mins. same as kelly no thanks just drove off ?? well thats horsey life. xx

Hi Nell, just asking why you feel you have to join-up again. Once you have your horse sorted and its wanting to be with you, its in the place you want it to be. I spend lots of time with my horses in their own differant comfort zones. This does keep them very close in a join-up way, reduces the horses anxiety. They learn to be calmer & not quiet so spooky. It is a trust thing that you are building up. I do practise lots with the scary bag, big tarp, trailer and gates, so now they just do it. When they see me, they must think, O, dear, whats he going to have us doing today lol.. Seems you have already started, as your ride was much better. So well done. Ben x

It sounds like everyone is having success using their new techniques!!!
Keith's education is going really well. Have had a rider on him everyday since backing, just taking it nice and slowly - concentrating on steering and stopping/starting.
Inara's long lining is also going relatively smoothly. I have also been using Basil the B***ard to do some ride and lead with her. Just something a bit different and a good way to get her out and about.
Have also got the IH bug and Sarah and I have already booked onto another course. We are doing the Stud/Foal course on 18/19 June - particularly relevant to me as I am planning on purchasing a fell pony foal in October this year.
