I would add here, that it would be nice to use a horse who is from a line that can do more than just show, as even when you breed the best to the best there can be disappointments, and not all foals are top show quality, so have to be able to find alternative employment!
I think that by using a full Thoroughbred, or a high percentage TB Anglo, you will get athleticism too

So impressed at you doing so much research and prep about mare health and stallion. Would totally agree about confirmation etc from other posts and I think that once you've made the rational comparisons on stallions, you visit them and see which one feels right and would make the best match with your mare. You know your girl so well that you'll get a sense of what's right by instinct, especially if you've done your homework first. Good luck, hope it goes well and keep us posted! X

Bertie not a cowbag at all. I totally agree with you and beleive this is taking lots of thought and planning, SS hit it on the head i am willing to spend money for quality and only for myself. I have always had ambitions for April, but unfortunately her previous life has left her deeply scarred and she still has certain issues ridden. In 4 years we've never had a united canter she only knows how to coil, so we never go past trot..!! I also think 2 years off to be a Mum will do her the absolute world of good. She has proved to have a wonderful temperament and is so very polite, to fellow equines as well as humans...! I am thinking about now, then and after even down to the logitics at weaning. i'm not scared to admit i'm cr**ping myself....! but i can't wait..! ;D As this is a once only project i need to ensure that if or any reason i'm unable to continue with foal once it has arrived, that is is saleable, April will never leave me. And as SS said, the top end market is still rife, i know of two horse purchaces on the last month both in excess of £10k. SS3 - I'de love to have a chat, i'll pm you. x Jackiedo - I agree, but i'll have to be taught how to jump..!! (properly) and dressage too but that's the beauty of it, that's what i want but April girl's finding it a bit tough, so i'm not going to stress her if i don't have to. Thanks for all your replies and i'm still open to stallion suggestions..!! ;D LE x
