So seeing as I am going to give us a huge nudge up in the hiViz stakes, I already have tabards and neck straps..... What colour is the best to 'be seen?'

Yellow sorry I know pink looks nice and yellow looks like a workman, but thats why the bin men etc wear it, it definitely shows up the best.

You don't have to apologise! lol I have heard on here that people say yellow isn't always best, esp in the autumn leaves, under high hedge rows etc....

Yellow.
My husband is red-green colour blind (as are 10% of men apparently). He can't see pink against green very easily at all.

Yellow definitely. Though I did go for pink on my hat in case I'm ever caught against a yellow background

It depends on the lighting conditions.
Poor lighting conditions, if drivers are sensible enough to have lights on, then the thing that shows first is the relection on the reflective strips.
If you ride under trees in sunlight, or over fields (don't forget helicopters need to see you too) then you need pink or orange as yellow blends in.
For normal road riding in normal lighting yellow is fine. If you ride a dark bay TB, get a yellow long-sleeved jacket and you'll find all the cars slow down, especially if you have the hat band and rug to match!

Orange and yellow combined (for reasons mentioned above - plus oil seed rape!)
On the roads yellow with blue checks around the edges works the best ;P

Orange is the one that can be seen best apparently - my brother used to work in a quarry, and they all had to wear orange as it had best visibility.
Pink is ace though!! I have a variety of hi viz in different colours, so can be quite like an xmas tree if I want to. I definitely want one of those tabards with the blue on.

It will depend. In the Autumn, no point in wearing yellow or Orange as it blends in with the trees.
I hate pink with a passion but will wear a pink tabard in the Autumn as It stand out better.
At all other times I'd wear yellow.
Hope this helps!

It's not the yellow or pink or orange that's the colour seen... it's the reflective strip that catches head lights that best show you up. However... Yellow is more eye-catching to the naked eye.

the emergency services use yellow as this shows up best in urban / motorway environment...
It really doesn't work where you may have a low sun against a green background
Orange works well and Pink is great but both must be to the British Standards for Hi Viz ...
the white reflective bits are great too

I have heard that yellow is best on roads, and pink in the countryside. I wear a mix of yellow, pink and orange!

They use orange on the railways because it stands out better than yellow. Reflective strips are the most obvious, but only if you're riding when people have their headlights on which I don't.
I love those tabards with the checks on, might have to get one. I've got a pink coat and yellow tabard currently.
I really want a hat band too.
