Had a bit of a scary accident which I am sure was partially caused by Hi Viz
I was long reining my youngster complete with Hi viz exercize sheet and boots. I was just going round our farm which has a bridleway through it. I could see another horse approaching and there is a dark narrow tree lined passage between us, so I thought best let her get through so we dont meet in the narrow bit. So I went for a little wander about in a turning circle. She didnt appear, so i thought maybe she had gone another way so I headed to the tree lined bit, then I could hear her horse snorting and fidgeting and she shouted to show myself (i think she thought I was a dog walker). I called back too say I had a horse but not sure she heard me.
My horse was a little unnerved since we had changed route then he could hear but not see some sort of commotion, eventually I managed to get him to approach the horse which was just round a bend. The lady had got off her horse and unfortunately when it saw my horse it freaked and galloped off .
Fortunately I managed to turn my horse away ( she went after her horse) and I head home, left horse in stable quickly then grab my car and check she + horse were ok. All were ok but horse had galloped back accross the main road
I am sure part of what set them off was the glimpses of hi viz through the trees and not working out they were both horses. I can't think why else the horse reacted so badly when it finally saw my horse other than our extreme hi viz??
I felt awful at what had happened , but was very pleased that my 3 1/2 yr old behaved so well in such an odd and potentially dangerous situation
