On Monday my wonderful and beloved Dales mare Norah was put to sleep at the age of 20. She had been struggling with arthritis for a while and had developed a breathing infection that wouldn't clear up....I couldn't put her through another winter when she was so tired and low. Norah was amazing....in the 12 years she was with me,she changed my life. I was very ill when she first came to me,and had been in hospital a lot with severe depression and post traumatic stress disorder. I had no confidence and no purpose....Norah changed that. As we got to know each other,I gained confidence and had a reason to get up in the morning. She had loads of quirks and could be really feisty and sparky, but she was safe. I took her everywhere from the beach to the moors to cross country and I knew she'd look after me. Because of her I trained as an instructor, gained my BHSAI and set up as self employed. Norah gave me my life back, taught me to trust and was the best friend in the world. I still can't believe she's gone.... she was family and I miss her so much. Her stable mate Chymnee is missing her too....she has another horse with her for company, but she looks as lost as I feel. Rest peacefully dear Norah, I know I'll see you again one day. Thank you for everything you gave me,you saved my life and now you are my angel with hooves xxxxxxx Attachments:

So sorry that you've lost your lovely girl. She is pain free now at Rainbow Bridge.
So moving to hear your story of how she changed your life, and gave you a reason for living. Horses touch us in so many ways, don't they, and can make such a tremendous impact on our lives. We should feel so grateful of the times we spend together, and all that they teach and give us, but it makes their passing much harder to bear.
Sending hugs to you at this difficult time.

Dear Norah....it's been a year now and I think of you every day. I feel so thankful for everything you gave me, and for the joy that we shared. Still feels like there's a huge space where you should be, and sometimes the tears come in rivers, but I know you're in a happier, pain free place. Chymnee and Norman are doing well.....Chym is such a brave and safe girl now, she's following in your wonderful hooves I think Love you always Norah, happy running at Rainbow Bridge....xxxxx
