Many thanks both, much appreciated.
Next year it will be twenty years since I lost my beloved Jingo to Grass Sickness (good Lord, it doesn't seem like two years, never mind twenty) , and my plan has always been to do another model for the Fund. But I STILL can't decide...... and neither can Joyce at the EGSF - so any ideas would be welcome. I've always wanted to do the Baron of Buchlyvie, whose skeleton is in the Kelvingrove Museum - I used to gaze at it in fascination when I was a child! But Joyce doesn't think that would be a 'seller', and he was rather a dull colour compared to modern Clydesdales. OK, a racehorse? Monet's Garden, who has just survived a life-threatening injury? Not well-known enough.... and so it goes on.
Tl, I think I can guess what you're likely to suggest...... but I do want to do a specific horse/pony this time, much easier for my painter!

Earnbrig Reynard looks terrific. Proper pony, going out and doing a proper job. And what an eye-catching colour! Definite possibility, thanks tl. I'll run it past Joyce.
I shall do the Baron one day, as it's been a life-long ambition to model him - so he should probably be the last one I do before I retire! I'll just do him for me though. So long as they'd let me in to measure up his skeleton. There used to be a fantastic photo of him there too, three-quarter back view, which made such an impression on me - I can still see it in my mind's eye.

Amazing Lipurlo, I have ALWAYS wanted to learn how to do this? Having been a life long Breyer fan as well ha ha. You should run a course, I'd come, I'm not a bad sculptor but know nothing about mould making? Feel free to PM any pearls of wisdom, your work is fabulous xxx

It's now looking very likely that my special 2012 model for the Equine Grass Sickness Fund will be a Clydesdale stallion. Joyce has suggested one, and he looks fab - yes, he's a current model ....... although while I'm North of the Border I will probably check out the Baron at the same time, if they'll let me! I can't wait. Shivers down my spine at the very thought.

I think you are committed to the Baron Liz. If not now, sometime in the future.

Two weeks to go till I head North for to meet a Clydesdale stallion! I'm assured he won't mind being crawled over by a mad woman with a tape measure and clipboard........ my plan is to work on his model through the winter and hopefully have it ready for May and a big launch for the EGSF. Clydesdales are hugely popular worldwide so I'm hoping for sales to all the international societies. Fayre Oaks sale and my biggest tradestand now over for another year, sadly - I love the F. O. weekend. The model of Eyarth Celebration had its first public appearance and went down well, although I only had the 'prototype' there -I'm totally thrilled with Simon's paint job, he's brilliant with greys now. It's a limited edition of fifty and the first 24 are now reserved, which is really satisfying. If anyone is interested, I'm going to put some information together about getting started with sculpture, and the basic techniques of modelling, mould-making and casting. Maybe for a donation to the IH charity - what do you think?

This is the new model - yet another grey Sec A stallion, this one belonging to a Dutch customer. The big difference being that he's trotting, so only has two feet on the ground.... I am going to have him cast for me in a different type of resin which is more resilient. So this is just my prototype, complete with length of threaded rod to keep him in one piece! Really excited about this - just about to start a Welsh Cob stallion in similar pose. Woo-hoo!

Thank you both, very much appreciated...... The Welsh Cob stallion is now well under way and had his first public appearance (he's still in plasticene) on Saturday, where the cob's owner saw him for the first time. All went very well - phew!! - and I now have advance orders for two more, which is brilliant, plus a lovely chat to the owner of one of the top Cob mares in the country, wanting a model doing. I'll get a pic and put it up soon.

Oh Liz, I adore the Highland. Have they all gone? Will you do any more Highlands along the line?

All the Highlands are now gone, I'm afraid - I had one last bronze one left over (slight second) and even it has now found a new home.
Do you know, I really ought to do a new one. I'm always being asked for them. My problem is, living where I do, there don't seem to be any good Highlands near me, and I'd really like a good typey show quality pony to measure up and photograph. The last one raised a lot of money for the EGSF, so maybe the next one could do the same for Shy Lowen. So if anyone knows of a good Highland around the Midlands/ Wales that I could go and measure up, do pm me and I'll see what I can do.
