Unfortunately at some stage the Morgan breed society removed "strength" and replaced it with "refinement" so the modern Morgan hasn't got the bone the original had. If the statue outside the UVM Farm is anything to go by, Justin Morgan was quite a chunky chap. I couldn't see a Morgan now being chosen as an Army horse.
Still as well as show horses (which they quite like as they are good at looking pretty), they will drive, do western, jump, Trec, dressage, dress up, just about anything really, which is what makes them so appealling. They are just very ready to do whatever their owner wants to do. I was watching a Morgan foal last spring that came up to the fence just to see what all the humans around were doing (putting up tents, unloading cars). A foal of another breed also out in the field took no notice of everything that was going on.
This is all a bit off topic now.

An anti 'Big lick' vid showing a close up of the chains and 'stacking' they use. www.youtube.com/watch?v=-EAA73TWwX0I especially like the part of the lyrics... "there's some things you can't improve, like the way I was born to move"

It is so strange that a country that allows these abuses of young horses has also banned slaughter. The irony is that the outcome for the horses destined for slaughter is now much, much worse than it was before.
