Hopefully going hunting for the first time today but need to double check I've got all the attire right! I have a (cheap!) blue hacking jacket, will this be ok as I didn't want to buy anything new really and the only other jackets I have are show jackets. Then cream jods, black gloves, shirt and tie (is this ok for a girl? I don't own a stock!) and skull cap with silk. Will it be ok to wear a body protector? For pony, will he be allowed to be bitless? Black or white numnah or saddlecloth on a grey? Do I need to take a whip? So exciting but so many questions!! Sorry

To be honest as long as you're smart that's the main thing with our local hunt. I wore my black show jacket but I would think a blue hacking jacket will be fine. Same with the shirt and tie. BP will be fine, personally I'd like to see it under someones jacket but I know that's not always possible.
Try and keep your saddlecloth as discrete as possible, so white numnah would be best. Doesn't matter what bit or lack there of you use as long as you have control.
You don't have to take a whip but they can be handy.

It sounds to me like you have it right. My daughter wears a tweed show jacket with cream stock (pretend one with tie pin not one you have to tie yourself!) cream jods, black boots and leather gaiters. Gloves - particularly useful! Skull cap with velvet cover. It's fine (and appropriate) to wear a body protector.
As ukshowjumper says, a discrete numnah best.
Have a look on the website of your hunt, they often have a dress code put up.
My daughter loves hunting, she has a great time, and we go and watch. It's a great day out, very tiring but exhilarating. Has your pony hunted before? Be prepared that a lot of ponies can get very excited particularly if not used to hunting.
At our hunt we have a person that 'buddies' new comers and stays with them during the hunt to talk them through what's happening and the lay of the land. Very helpful! We also have something called the 'bitch pack!', we have a lot of young girls in our hunt and they look out for each other.
Good luck, have a fantastic day and let us know how you get on.

Ideally we would like to see you out in black jacket and white stock but to be honest as long as you are smart nobody will complain! Body protector you can definately wear. Numnah can be any plain colour, i'd go with black as it won't stain with mud as your white one would! yes you can go bitless as long as you think you will have enough control. Whip is up to you. Have a look on our website for some good tips and also click the link at the bottom and familiarise yourself with a few phrases to help you through the day surreyunionhunt.shutterfly.com/newtohuntingmost of all enjoy!
