I've fixed the other pics now. These pics were taken in October 2008, pre ulcer problems. (remember the vid is from early stages of post ulcer rehab, and just before we discovered there was a toxic liver peoblem from all the drugs too!) He does over track. From a baby his natural way of going was head up, back hollow and massive over track...here is a VERy unflattering pic of us, and what I had to work with... When he relaxes his shoulders and neck, and lowers into the work, he tracks up perfectly, when he hollows, he over tracks. This, again, is not the bezt pic, but shows how his feet were quite long in the toe and he was quite over on his pasterns as a youngster...this was taken about 3 weeks after I bought him, and he was still shod at that point.

Ok so he is certainly moving better in those, still landing toe first though! He looks less tight though and his skin looks looser over his muscles. The toe tapping probably wouldn't scuff his toes off, have a really good watch next time you lunge him and watch for a double bounce. It can be quite hard to see,, the gait analysis slows it down enough to be able to see it clearly, although one you have your eye in with it, you can see it without.

You've got me looking back over all his baby pics now and he always has landed his foot like that, shod and barefoot. These are really early days...

Probably going to have to continue this tomorrow as my eyes are hurting from staring at this screen! Try and see him move tomorrow if you can and have a really good look. See if anything springs out at you from what we have discussed. Re Navicular, bear in mind that sometimes the only way to be sure about damage in the foot is through Mri as xray isn't good enough. Will only show bony changes but not the lesions that may come first. Did he have nerve blocks done on his feet (all 4)?

Yeah I need to go to bed too. Not good for me sitting up this late! Been interesting though, thank you (and once again apologies to the OP! if you'd like me to, I can move all my pics and replies to a seperate thread and we'll continue on there!)
Nerve blocks - yes. All 4 feet. Done innnnnn. Um. March time? I think. All sort of blurs into one long crappy year, but i think that one was March, just before we moved yards.

Would be really interesting for some of the barefoot peeps to comment on how his foot lands. I don't think it should land like that personally but I maybe wrong. Xrays of angle of his pedal bone? Need to sleep....

Maybe you could post some pics of his feet? Sleep needed, I'm going!

Good luck with it all, peppertop likes the questions!!! I do have to say with one of mine that did have ulcers but not bad compared to the other of mine that has them. As peppertop said he went to cambridge for 8 days investigation and his main problem was front feet collatral ligament so lots of box rest and shoeing trimming to inprove but now his starting work again the slight hock arthritus that was picked up on as a secondary 'problem' has now been medicated and for me it has made a MASSIVE change in him. To say it was thought that the hock problem was very slight now they have been medicated all of a sudden he has looked so much more comfy in him self, maybe its coz its a sudden change for him where as the front feet it has just been time to mend. Or maybe he just couldn't cope with the pain there although the vet didn't think it so bad, pain is such a personal thing when they cant tell us its just trial and error.

I will try and find my camera charger and see if I can get some foot pics....although his feet are hidden by a good few layers of mud right now!!!

Trouble what about doing a vid of his gait and run it in slow mo so you can see clearer how he's landing?

Main problem with that is I don't have a video camera! lol, my camera does very short clips but the quality is so poor that I'm not sure what use it would be.
I am intending to buy a video camera sometime in the new year, but not much use for right now.

I think when I come back later with foot pics I REALLY ought to start a new thread! I feel everso guilty for turning someone elses thread into a snipfest. *oops*
However, I'm currently so so desperate to help my boy that I'm afraid a selfish side of me has appeared and allowed me to do just that!!!

Can I then add apologies to the OP for continuing the Snip theme... Here's a clip of vid that I took the other day of Trouble longlining. If you play it as slow speed, to me it looks toe first landing. (I'm not sure how you do that from Photobucket, I did it through my mediaplayer.) This is the clip I'd already sent you, peppertop.

I tried to be clever and slow motion those clips, Liz - and can't through Photobucket.
I even tried to take still images from it but couldn't. I know how to do it from media player so will have a play around later.
My OH has agreed to come and try and get some clips for me this afternoon. We only have a poor quality camera but it might work - worth a try. I can certainly get the foot still shots later.
