DIY - 32 miles each way, so 64 miles round trip. 40 mins each way
Not as bad as it sounds as I work in Bournemouth and live between Southampton and Portsmouth, so work is 80 mile round trip. To do Cinny I take back route into the New Forest from Bourmnemouth to yard. Feed Cinny after work, thereby missing the rush hour traffic near where I live - so works well.
It is so worth it 24hr herd turnout with woods in fields, amazing hacking and nice peeps at yard.
Luckily I don't work Wednesday afternoons, so not far from work for an afternoon's ride ;D
The only thing that has now changed is that my OH and I, want to start house hunting in the New Forest next summer!
Good luck

Its all pros and cons I suppose, I will be trading my time for their turnout. I have done the whole 1hour away from work thing before but then I only had 1 horse. Anyway, we will see what tomorrow brings, it may be a horrid yard but having seen one of their other yards it will be nice (their other is closer to home but unfortunately they don't have any space), I should really just be patient and wait but trying to home to horses and one that weaves isn't easy, especially when you have so many criterias , (each time I move I tick off what I didn't like about the last one and make sure i know what both I and the nags need, will only move now to the exact right yard , if indeed it exists!! , plus indoor school means no excuse to not do anything with them

12 miles but the facilities are super grazing not quite so good but still out 24/7 with amazing security as in not getting stuff stolen could do with more experienced eye on the yard that lived nearer but the folk are good and would notice anything horrific just not the subtle

I moved to a yard that was a 30 min drive away to so that my mare was able to have the turnout and be kept dust-free (not easy the way most livery yards are set up). It worked really well and I was a lot happier knowing I was doing the best for my mare. However I had the back up of the knowledgeable YO that I trusted to do one end of the day and also look after my mare if for any reason I was not able to get there. I don't think it would have worked so well if I had not had that.

2 miles by car, just over a mile on foot to the first field and another half mile to the yard. Ideal in every respect, I can get there come what may.

I travel 45 mins each way for Beau (I live in West London and she is in Herts), just cos it's a great yard and very IH. She is on full livery though so that makes it doable. Really wish I could pick up the yard and move it closer though!

According to Google 2.2 miles and 8 mins in the car or 1.7 miles and 35 mins on foot in the snow! Kira loved riding home in the Summer The previous yard was almost 6 miles away and now that seems too far.. I just love popping down at anytime ;p

a few miles, 4 mins in the car. we are on DIY and although the horses live out we like to check and feed them twice a day, especially in Winter, when we help hay the fields as well.

I have them only 2 min drive and 10 min walk now but most times its been about 15 - 20 mins and around 16 miles round trip - for a while they were in Bristol which is nearly 100 miles away and we used to spend fri night to sun pm sleeping in our horse lorry - partly because i was ill and one of mine was being shown by someone there for me but it became to stressful traveling which could take 2.5 hours each way so we moved the back and were lucky to find the currently yard YO is in her late 70's and lovely but it is a worry with her being quite elderly as wonder what will happen in the next few years.
