"Odense's Chief Steward confirms to EPONA.tv that a complaint was lodged against Patrik Kittel's riding, but it was not deemed necessary to comment or take action, because Kittel was no worse than other riders using the same method."
What a disgrace this comment from that article is...obviously it must be okay if everyone's doing it!

And here again from that report... this is the sort of guy you're dealing with...
"EPONA.tv has spoken to Patrik Kittel, and asked him if he thinks he is riding in accordance with the FEI Code of Conduct.
"I think you should send the questions in an email along with the footage, so I can give it to my lawyers," said Patrik Kittel. EPONA.tv follows up by asking whether he himself is unaware of whether he rides in accordance with the FEI Code of Conduct.
"Of course I do. Otherwise a steward would do something about it. But I don't want to discuss it with you now. Have a good day," concludes the rider.

What a muppet someone should do it to him!!!!!!
I girl told me that a top Show Jumper told her to be at the top if her horse had a fence down in its 1st class she would have to pour boiling water on her horses legs before the next class. She told him she wouldn't do it! I think competition has become a disgrace to the horse world!

Kanga thats so heartbreaking to hear...these people should not be allowed near any animal
To be honest i really cant watch much of the vid...tears are falling on my keyboard. If i was there i really worry what i would have done to that guy...its just too awful to put into words and if thats what dressage and competion has come to then its a very sick world...am emailing right now with my thoughts on this...it will not be pretty but i cant say nothing....hope someone gets him and kicks the s**t out of him!

I've got some big guns involved now too.........watch this space over the next few days. So typical of the dressage divas 'where is my lawyer'. Well this time, I doubt that lawyers are going to do them any good. The 'court of public opinion' is a powerful one, and at last, I think some justice may be done, for the horse. Heather

I fully intend to also email.. I so would like to get that git off that superb horse and get him on all four.. put some metal in his mouth.. haul him in.. with his head forced into his chest and expect him to blo**** dance as light as his so genuine horse. I actually could not watch it all.. and the pressure either bit on its own or noseband combination has certainly caused his tongue to lose its circulation.. That is abuse.. sheer cruel abuse

and as I was saying earlier the bitting clinic explains and the write up I epona mag..that specialist..went into so much more evidence .
It makes you wonder why that horse puts up as he is so powerful and if he wanted he could simply explode.. and never let him near him again..but then again he has lost all characture to fight anything now.. .

That's part of the reason that they keep them so tightly pulled in, for dominance and control. They can't see, can barely breathe and must have pain in their poor necks There's no wonder that many dressage riders can't actually ride their horses for the prize giving!

Ugh! To think these people are considered the height of equitation! It's an absolute disgrace. So much is made of "on the bit" and collection - and some riders seem to be prepared to use any degree of force, coersion and pain. Contrast with that the riding of my friend Shari - who achieves beautiful self carriage with no whips, no spurs, no bit, no shoes, no saddle and often no bridle. I have seen her and her stallion in action more times than I could count now. She may do it in wellies, no hat and sometimes a strange native american outfit - but I always think she blows these dressage guys out of the water by a long streak! See Dressage section on this page: dances-with-horses.net/index.php/lessonsI often wonder why top competition dressage is so bad. For example Olympic level dressage looks nowhere near the level of the Spanish Riding School of Vienna to my eye. I guess it must come down to a defined objective which has little to do with how the horse is feeling, what's good and best for the horse, consent and harmony, the beauty of the horse-human ridden relationship. Whatever it is they are trying to achieve, this is one amateur that does not hold them up as an example to aspire to. If we stop watching and admiring them, the sponsors will put their money elsewhere. Let's tell the sponsors how we feel!

oh well done Heather! that's so great you've got things moving!
i only managed a few seconds of the video as i just found it so heartbreaking to see the horse humiliated and clearly suffering like that... his eyes looked so sad...
i've recently picked up the first 2 of Philippe Karl's dvds as i really want to learn more about classical dressage... i was lucky enough to have a one-off lesson with a retired French trainer from the Cadre Noir a while back - he was "standing in" as a favour at the riding club one weekend - was a fabulous experience...
just worlds apart eh...
