I do have the same problem with my oldies (30 year old mare and 20 yr old with history of stomach ulcers) both of them get Gut balencer from Protexin which works for them. Good luck with yours, hope you find something that helps

Oh I just discovered a runny poo in my field - interesting to know the reasons behind it thanks!!! The one who's doing it is only 2.5 so it's not an age problem.

My pony had lose but formed dropping yesterday and over night turned to very loose. He is stabled at the moment cos livery yard is like a sheet of ice.
He was eating his hay and drinking OK this morning. YO is going to give him a powder in his food tonight if there is no sign of improvement in the droppings.
Over the last 10 days he has been gradually introduced to a balancer, (Top spec lite) Only went up to the total amount 48 hours ago. At also started on the coldest night and day we have had so far.

The past three years I've had trouble each winter with my 14 yr old arab, Sharnina, spurting fountains of poo liquid. It really makes a mess of her back end!- Just cleaned it off this morning. The vet last year originally said to worm her every month then to restrict her diet to one haynet a day. She had oedema last winter. She was just getting some pasture mix on top of her haynet at the time and access to rock salt lick. The oedema subsided but she was starving and started copying my other horses, chewing the stabling which she'd never done before. She is now on one scoop of D&H pasture mix and add lib hay while it's there! I am restricting the salt lick to one day per week. The squits have returned particularly with a change of hay. I have been through everything and can only think that the hay with my regular supplier has been treated when growing in the field with chemicals (fertiliser) or there's something in the manure he sprays on the field. I did have 16 bales of meadow hay from a friend who had baled off an untreated field and I didn't notice any problem while she was eating it. Her poo is formed, so what's causing it. Anyone have the same experience? Attachments:
