I worked with Harry a few months ago for several sessions - IT had a very deep-seated issue! Recently I had a client with a similar issue, and I asked Harry to get in touch with that client to let them know of his experience, in order to offer them support and encouragement. Below is the email he sent them (which he has given me permission to publish):
I have recently received help from Sue Brown/Palmer regarding a similar issue over mounting a horse that I had just brought. She asked me to contact you to let you know about our success.
I had been to visit this horse for three days and when I was there I could get on fine no problem. However when we got him home the problems began. It would take 40mins to an hour to get on and that was through almost jumping on which in its self was very dangerous. My horse IT would lean into you and try to get away do little rears anything to stop me putting my foot in the stirrup. We were despairing and considering sending him back when we rang Sue. Sue came and we worked on desensitizing him because he hated anything above him along with getting him used to standing for the mounting block, having weight on his back etc. We had Sue back quite a few times and after a while I couldn’t believe the transformation it suddenly just clicked. He was relaxed and happy with me getting on. It wasn’t like this the first few times Sue came, as perseverance and hard work from both me and Sue meant eventually after 3 months of having the horse I could finally get on and ride easily. IT was also relaxed with me on his back and we soon made up for lost time.
All I would say is stick with it and not to throw the towel in too early. If like me you brought what you thought was a fantastic horse then it’s worth the effort as what Sue does really works! If you’ve got any questions about it then please feel free to ask as I’m more than willing to help.
You’ll get there in the end!
