Plumpton Demo
Post by lukie on May 31, 2009, 7:08am
Well, firstly i must apologise to anyone who witnessed my dreadful attempt at the Yes / No game with Rosie last night
In my defence, i had no idea that Kelly would suggest i should do it and i was busy watching Zoe working with the loading horse at the time.
Anyway. When asked what i would like to get Rosie to achieve with the Yes/ No game, is asking her to go out to the burger van and get my chips, an unreasonable request
I thought that the May Masterclass had grown massively since last year. The team were introduced to us and all wore the IH clothing which made them very smart and easily identifiable.
The stands and IH village were laid out superbly and the whole event was very well set out.
Kelly, Ian and Rosie worked very hard to put across the IH approach across and Rosie appears to have grown in confidence.
It cannot be easy to ride and explain every move and appraoch to her work with the lovely Ceaser.
The horse that Kelly worked with, was a horse from the college. A lovely grey mare who had to be sedated for clipping. She also did not load -she chose rearing and running off. Both fears were overcome and i think the lady at the college and the audience were amazed by the methods used to achieve it.
Zoe worked with a hafflinger mare who had to be ridden home from events because of her fear of trailers. It was especially nice to see the owner load the mare after Kelly had.
Every comment i overheard were all positive. The biggest buzz that went round was when Kelly was explaining how she taught Pie to stand still ( for the Trek training ) It raised chuckles all round when she said there was a lot of ' no, Pie, stay there' then a few seconds later " No pie, stay there ' Obviously this was such a down to earth approach and that ran through the whole demo. I am sure that it has inspired lots of horse owners to get out in the sunshine and have some fun with their horses today.
Sorry not to have met up with any other Dg'ers ? Hopefully we will see each other at the next local demo.

I've never made it to any of the Master Classes, only Monty Demos. Sounds like I have missed out on a lot! Glad it was another successful Demo. And did you manage to get Rosie to buy the chips by the way LOL

Thing is ladies, i don't do audience participation !! I am the one who likes to sit quietly in the corner and watch. The last thing you expect is to have a microphone thrust at you in front of, what, 250 people ? Eek, panic... My eyesight is awful so when Rosie got so far down the arena, i couldn't see where she was behind the speakers. Bob said to me afterwards, " Why didn't you walk down the area of the raised seating ( where we were ) and watch where she went. " ? I have to tell you whilst i am laughting about it now.. you know those video clips where the person is walking along and not watching where they are going, then suddenly fall over or bump into something ? Well, thats all i could think of and with the lovely Kitty there armed with the video camera, the last thing i needed was to appear on You been framed !!
So i was rooted to the spot.
The humour of the evening coming from Kelly was just perfect and of course, i didn't want to upstage her ! pmsl...

Well done Lorraine!!!Another fantastic Demo, wish I was there too to see it.
I did the yes no game at
The psychology course with Kelly
its invaluable in learning what it is like for horses , to constantly be wrong "NO" in what your doing and where your going
and the difference it makes you feel when every step you do is right being "yes"
it shows how hard it must be for horses to understand what we want from them.
and how soul destroying it must be to constantly telling them they are doing wrong with no clear instructions of what you want them to do in the first place.
and how praise,in every step of the right directions make you feel, and how it must make a horse feel
I learned so so so much from that game
and my horses and horses that have come into my life have benefited from that game
it was invaluable !!!
Thank you for sharing the demo with us Lorraine!!
love Vxxx

I heard you - I am sorry to say, I was giggling rather a lot at you Lorraine!
I'm just proud that I managed to recognise one person there - I don't usually manage that! Although, I must apologise Lorraine, as I never did get to meet you. We WILL meet one day, I'm sure!
It was a brilliant evening - so entertaining and I definately learnt a lot. Well done Team IH!
