WHat an utterly FANTASTIC story - I am amazed! I really take my hat off to you for all your hard work - and I can see the journey has not been easy (especially finding out that Taz had been stolen). Reading this makes me feel humble.
I can only say WELL DONE! Brilliant brilliant stuff - and probably one of the best stories I have read on here!
(Kelly - this needs to be in the next Listening Post!!)

Thank you everyone ( oh I gone all prickly now ) ... It was actually a good time for me to write it down now because we have just had a difficult 18 months when Taz had a problem with one of her ovaries ........ we could not find out exactly what it was and it was great to come on here and ask for advice and suggestions from people on here. I was given suggestions for experts for example as well as talk throughs of the symptoms to help identify what the cause could be with experienced stud owners. We had feared it was a tumour for quite some time ..... but thankfully it was not and she has had some treatment which we hope has resolved the problem ( certainly has made Taz more comfortable !!!!) So although we had done little "work" or made much "progress" for such a long time doing this reminded me not only of the progress we had made but the support I had got over the years on here ........ which is why I will never give up visiting the DG !!!!!!!!! So come on folks , lets share the good stuff, lets have some really positive strokes ...... every sentient being craves them and in fact cannot survive without them

Wow...bet it feels good now, all that hard work, and finding other perhaps better routes, to form a solid bond with you and Taz.....
so glad also that her original owner was found, even if he was reassured and sold her to you.

It was a very hard time that period Julz .... I could put myself in the breeders position ... ..... and even though my "inner child" was saying " its not fair he has all those other horses and I have to give my one horse back" I knew it was not quite that simple . Even more so when he told me of the tale of Taz's birth. He had thought she was stillborn and it was his way to leave a dead foal with mum till she had lost interest so she would not be distressed and keep calling. When he went back later though Taz was up and suckling ... if he had taken her straight away and disposed of her ...... well yet it tore me apart the thought of not having Taz in my life. Yet at the moment I am sitting here grinning because I have read rjs experience with Nostalgia ... she said it seemed such a small step to grin about ..... but to me each small step means a lot as I hope everyone will feel. One I remember very well becasue the "step" happened in public and the people watching all had bemused looks on their faces. It had been very hard for Taz to accept me getting on and standing still at the mounting block and progress even with the clicker was slow. We had gone to a little local show as a learning experience ...... when there I in a mad moment decided to have some fun and take part in the gymkhana games ( her patience etc was brill once I was actually on board). I was the only adult and said I would only do the games where I did not have to get on / off .... but on the spur of the moment I stayed in for the card game . When we all got off to claim a card I gesticulated to my friend to bring in the big tack box I was using to get on with .... and Taz stood still ;D ;D ;D Not only that she did it every time till we were out of the game . I was grinning like a cheshire cat and so caught up in the moment that I did not even see the audiences reaction till we came out the game. Bewilderment springs to mind I floated the rest of the day ...............

Oh wow, so she had her first bit of luck at birth. Blimey!
Would love to know more about the theft - how long after did you buy her? Did anyone get arrested? How did owner track her down? So often, we just read 'horse recovered' and never get the story behind it. There are so many stolen horses out there, it is incredibly frustrating!
