Kelly if you want to do search on my latest fantastic hoof wings. I did a thread al about them from day one to full testing.
Because Flynn is the larger horse I had little choice of boot. It was Easy Boot Bares and Boa's I tried Boas but one swung round straight away so no good at all. I then read they can have over tighten issues and bruising to coronet band I was pleased they had not fitted well enough to go with.
Then I got the EasyBoot bares which I re-named NON easy Boot Bares.. they became so hard to get on and off I actually ended up with having to have osteopath treatment when I seriously injured my back getting them on. I even used to hammer them on! or use Flynns foot like a hammer to the ground to get his foot inside. They also swivvled around when on and came off when riding!!!!! unreal.. struggle to get on and then fly off when doing even trotting. I was do disheartened.. I then heard about altering them to an up buckle fitting, which I did. That did make them easier but still the buckle has come undone when out riding and they have swivvled if I dont put pads inside and as the pads get thinner with wear they swivvle again.Forget cantering as so heavy Flynn will not go in them. We just get a trot and then he isnt happy. He never walked out on them that well but we could get out and stick to walk it was fine.
Then I decided after talking to June to try the Hoofwings.. the custom made ones are superb.. and although some say on here they think there boot is fine, till you try this boot you can not comment truly in comparsion.
They act as if there is no boot there. To me that is the epitomy of a the best boot possible.
They are so easy to put on and take off. They do not move when on and have nowhere to rub or cause any bruising.
They can be made in lots of colours if that is your wish even sparkly ones. Not my scene. They are truly made exactly for your horses foot. a mould is made from all the measurement and it is like they simply dip that foot into the material they use!
The perfect glove to protect against stony tracks. They can even be put on for turnout and the only boot designed for that.
The sole looks slippy and I did try to rasp them and it made no markings in the material it is so tough.
The material is also flexible which means it flexs like the hoof does so still allowing stimulation which strengthens the hoof.
I have no more issues in them gripping then I do out unshod. I do not go fast in wet conditions where it is slippy for my own horses welfare. We do use a steep track downhil that at the moment is wet mud and we go down that same as when we have no boots on. Flynn does what he feels secure and I go with his opinion as if he feels secure OK if he doesnt I go with that.
The roads we have no slipping issues at all in fact they grip the road same as his own feet do unshod. Easyboots did not ever make Flynn walk out like these do.
I have done everything bar gallop! and that day will come! we have even jumped in them. Flynn has been longlines in them and over poles, elevated poles and jumps and acted the same with great elevation as if unshod. I did all of this to truly test the boots.
I cant say enough of how great they are. I go out with a lady on a small welsh pony in G2's and they look clumpy, she struggles to get them on and done up and can only stop they rubbing and moving by wearing human socks inside. The straps are not generous on them and she will be still getting one on and we are booted on both ready to go.
If you want more details look at my thread and it has the links.. or send me an email and I will forward you all the details
You can also have carbon chips embedded in the soles if you want more grip.. the couple who make them are the most amazing people so helpful and so great to deal with and they live in the US.. Frank and Mark are amazing.. No where will you get customer service as they give you. I can guarentee that.
Until anyone has tried these can they talk as comparison.. as they say you may have tried the rest now try the best.
So far I have hacked out 4 times along lanes over stony tracks and loose gravel and wet mud and wet grass and dry grass. Had my whole lesson in them and done lots of canter and cantered out on the grassland.
