This is not a selling thread, just an out of interest thread.
How much do you think a 7 year old striking looking Andalucian x TB would be worth. 16hh, gelding, has competed, hunted etc, but not affiliated. No vices. Thanks

Thanks Gordo - I can't do that I'm afraid. The horse is for sale from a dealer, and I know I should walk away, but there's something about him! He is for sale for what I consider to be a crazy price - just wanted to check I'm not wrong!

He sounds nice, if he has competed at local level and is a nice horse to have around, no vices, etc then I'd say 3.5-5k depending on how quickly they want a sale. By the way, the last time I bought anything was Aug 07 when I got a Comtois through the rescue I found out about on here - before that it was 12 years ago when I bought my old girl so I'm not exactly up-to-date on prices

Trust your gut feeling, if it feels wrong then walk, if right then go for it!!!

Does the dealer do a 28day guruntee? most good dealers will take a horse back if they prove to be unsuitable withing a month

Hmm! The thing is I'm soft, so trial wouldn't work! I either buy this boy or not. I really want him, but feel they're asking silly money. I just want to be sure what would be a reasonable but not insulting offer- bearing in mind horses aren't selling right now.

No website sadly. But I've described him and what he's done - local shows, hunting etc. Nothing spectacular but the owners say he's nice, and he is stunning looking. I just like him, but not keen on paying what I consider to be double what he's worth. I realise no-one can put an exact figure on vague details, but an idea would be appreciated!

Is he well put together?
Does the price reflect potential in the show/dressage ring maybe? Or would he be an all round good riding horse?
Is he safe to ride in traffic? People seem to pay a lot just for that these days.
Sorry I'm not going to be much use as I've always got my horses off the track and never for more than 2 grand but I'm trying to think of things that might make him valuable.
Modified to add: When you say - has competed - does that mean he's done well at local level and is now ready to affiliate or does it mean he's seen a show ring?

Varkie, not sure to be honest. I've not gone into it too far as I don't want to be a time waster if I have no intetnion of paying what they're asking. I know he was imported from Spain about two years ago. Since then, they have 'brought him on'. I have seen him whipped around local shows- so yes he jumps! I expect he is registered, but that's a question I will ask. I'd have payed more for him before he was 'brought on' than I want to now. I think there will be a lot to undo!
