so I had a long break over x-mas and thought i would get quite a lot done with the horses...and yes i did manage to get on with a few days of long reining pharaon, and managed to start being able to catchg billy boy again, and then I go and break my index finger, by just falling over and so badly it needed reconstructive surgery with pins and wire holding it in place..so even if my lads are good i just feel there is no point trying to do any serious handling with a young stally and another youngster.... ohh well i spose another 6 weeks of chilling in the field wont do any harm..although the stally can get a bit above himself when not being handled regularily....have to say tho, had to get him on and wormed yesterday and took him up the yard in a headcollar, past the mares of whom 2 are in season??? and he was behaving like a lamb, even tho they were being very silly tarts.. sorry for rambling thread, just gutted having spent three days in hospital

Oh no! Falling over like that is so annoying isn't it! That's how I broke my wrist 2 years ago...I ended up in hospital being wired back together too!
Can really sympathise too, word of warning re the wirses, wrap it up warm at this time of year, those wires get COLD if you stay outside too long!

This is the first year after breaking my femur bone.... and the pain that came with it... O.M.G!!
it was continually painfull for about three weeks..... it's not the metal that gets cold, it's the actual calcification of the bone that objects..... owie!!

Ooooh, I hated the local anaesthetic!! I nearly punched the doctor as it was so painful! I actually had to be restrained!
The general anaesthetic 3 days later to reset and wire it (initial manipulation hadn't worked properly) was far more pleasant, as was the morphine when I woke up!!!

Mmmmmmm.... morphine.... ahhhhh... happy days.... ;D ;D
Trouble you would not have liked what I had three weeks ago.. a cortico-steroid injection in the knee joint.. cant describe to you how painful that was, and how I had to keep still and relax... did he say "relax"?? with a needle sticking out my knee?? oh joy... glad to say it has worked beautifully though!!

Ick! No I wouldn't like that!
I'm normally ok with needles but he stuck it right into the break, and it hurt!

Oh no you poor thing. My x rays are pretty impressive from last year, but don't want to hijack your thread by posting them! Hope you are mended soon.
I've been warned about being careful in the cold because of the metal pins and plate. And also to avoid getting a belt off of electric fencing as it is complete agony apparently. Thanks to Sam Maxwell for that warning, as apparently Max got a whack off of some electric fencing which majorly hurt where his arm is plated etc.
