hi guys, my freind is shortly about to loan a thoroughbred but there is a slight problem.. she is good on roads and is genarally good to ride most of the time but she has recently been out of work for 1 month and is fizzy when not road day to day , so how could we bring her back into work without her doing anything silly, she is 10 has jumped etc its just when she hasent benn road for about a month she likes to have alot of energy burt off her we do have a sandschool .. when riding a few weeks back she was pulling her head forward which pulls the reins out of my freinds hands and she started trotting she kept doing this and got her self that worked up she was sweating. how could this be halted she is currently road in a snaffle and i think she needs a stronger bit do you have any suggestions which would be the correct type as she can be a typical thoroughbred at times...this was about 2 month since STORY 3 week Since Also this horse had her front 2 shoes off about 3 week since and was fine before but since having them off she is very lame and can hardly walk on her front 2 legs this also looks painfull and hard for her to walk on she has been on bute since been like this and its done nothing! is there any suggestions or is there anyfeeds which can help or ??

If the horse is lame it should not be exercised until it is sound.
If I have read your post correctly, the horse has been lame since having it's front shoes removed, which would suggest that it is foot sore without shoes - not unusual in TB's which tend to be flat footed.
However it would be best to have it seen by a vet as soon as possible as the lameness could be any number of things.

i would stop riding her is she is sore and lame
i would also get her some hoof boots and pad as her feet need to be conditions befor you can start riding her
her feet will also need to be scrubbed daily to stop infection in the white line and nail hold also rubbing sudocream in the ail hold and around the white line will stop infection
my tb hates normal jointed snaffles so i have him in a myler low port comfort saffle
you cannot just take a horses front shoes off and not exspect it to be sore and lame i would be getting this horse in boots and pads now
and please do you reading befor you take this any further

Was she sound with front shoes? If so why doesn't your friend get them put back on? Just wondering why were they taken off?
Re the bit issues - when did this horse last have the dentist? I would suggest that before anything.
What was the horses history before your friend?

I think, and I am not trying to be nasty, that your friend would do better with a different horse. Ex track TBs are cheap and readily available, but they are not easy keepers for novices. By novice I don't mean can't walk trot and canter, but novice in terms of horsemastership.

Is she foot sore or lame? horses feet need to be contitioned when shoes have been worn then removed. Check for any thrush, wall seperation and holes that have been left by the shoes. these need to be scrubbed daily with antiseptic solution and sudocrem applied to any holes and seperation. the horse needs to be walked inhand on surfaces to encourage the hoof to start working. the sand school is great for exfolicating the sole and frog but don't be tempted to overdo it, read your horse and finish when he has had enough, gradually building up. Pads are great to begin with if needed. if you want to start ridden work (as long as not lame) again little and gently build up, pref wearing pads and boots to begin with.
The bit issue i would be looking at less rather than more. Have his teeth and back checked as he may be trying to run away from any pain issues. Once checked and given the all clear a good teacher will teach your friend to ride from her seat and legs thus discouraging too much hand that only serves to engage the horses backend further ending up in a battle off pushy and pully.
