Hi I noticed that my horse has a hard growth at the base of his neck, on his chest. It feels hard but you can feel most of the way round it. It doesn't hurt him, he doesn't care at all when I was looking at it and feeling it. Any ideas as to what it could be? I was thinking it could be cyst. Is it best to just get the vet out incase?

Sorry not sure, so hard to tell from a description isn't it? To me it does sound like a cyst or a fatty growth (usually benign). Might be worth getting the vet out if only to put your mind at rest.

I'd get the vet to check it but one of ours had something similar over summer where her fly rug rubbed, so check out if the rug is rubbing if he's rugged. Now ours isn't in the fly rug the lump has disappeared. Looks like I'll be buying a new fly rug for next summer!
