He's a Cremello, not an Albino. This is a common misconception, Albino horses don't exist.

Interesting - I was simply going by what the site who are selling him classify him as. So why don't albino horses exist? Is this something that's limited to equus or does that extend to hamsters, dogs, whatever else that may be called albino? Anyone?!!

He is cremello as he has coloured eyes. Albinos have no pigmentation hence their eyes appear pink. I thought that you did get albino horses rarely, like people, but will have to go & google it now!

Dora is right - albino is not believed to exist in horses - or if it does, it is so rare as to be practically non-existant! I couldn't comment on other species, as I've only looked at colour genetics in horses.
The majority of 'albino' horses you see are cremello. Which isn't so exciting really, genetically. It's just a chestnut horse with two copies of the cream gene.
Cremellos are rather like marmite I think. You either love them or hate them. I must admit they do nothing for me at all!

No. Albino is NOT a lethal gene in horses.
You are either confusing albino with the Lethal White Syndrome, also called Overo Lethal White Syndrome. They are not at all the same thing. This particular syndrome is linked in with the frame overo genetics.
Or you are confusing it with horses being homozygous for the White gene. The theory being that dominant white is lethal.
But neither of these cases are truly albino.

Ops dont shout at me varkie. just quoting what read lol
I quote "True albino animals have a white coat, mane, and tail, with pink skin and pink eyes. However, there is no reported case of a true albino horse. Albinism in horses appears to be linked to lethal traits and albino foals do not survive. Therefore, all living "albino" horses actually have blue or brown eyes and thus are white horses, not true albinos."

Not shouting Mags, just emphasising.
Where did you get your quote from? I still think that quote is muddling up albinos with the White gene.

I like the marmite comment! Cremello does nothing for me either. Do love Spanish horses though!
