If it really is since she's been on Top Spec then it might be worth switching to something like Baileys Lo Cal and seeing if the behaviour goes away. The odd horse does seem to react badly to Top Spec. Its rare but it does happen. It could just be coincidence but it may not be.

Maybe like June says the balancer is a bit too much of a good thing? Maybe a bit like feeding marsbars to kids?

Yes, Lo Cal is a balancer like Top Spec. It has a slightly lower specification than Top Spec but has a much higher spec than Bluechip so is the next "best" to Top Spec. Or maybe try halving the Top Spec and seeing if that helps.

Try cutting out the TS, one of mine was a total ASBO brat on it.

All our 30 or so polo ponies are on Top Spec and we've never had any with a problem with the exception of one that went footy on it. Top Spec provides the full analysis of their feed. They are the only company to do so, so you know exactly what you are feeding.
Its always easy to blame a feed for a particular problem. Often it is the grass or the hay that is to blame since that is the vast majority of the horses' diet. The weekend before last our horses were particularly lively. Their feed and turnout regime hadn't changed. It was windy and it was mild, so it was probably a combination of grass growth and the wind.
Top Spec is low sugar so it wouldn't be the sugar affecting the horse. But it could have put something else out of balance. Calling these feeds balancers is a bit of a misnomer. You can only truly balance the diet if you analyse the grass and hay and then adjust the vitamins and minerals accordingly. The feeds are really general vitamin and mineral supllements rather than balancers so adding one could throw the existing ration out of balance.
You could try adding some Mag Ox. Magnesium acts as a calmer in horses with a magnesium imbalance.

There is a Top Spec Anti Lam which is lower sugar.

It was Top Spec Anti Lam that made ours footy. There's always an exception to every rule! The Anti Lam is fibre based and the Balancer is protein based so it could just be that the Balancer is providing your horse with a bit too much energy, or it could be something else entirely!

Mine are on Top Spec Lite - great for natives and very good do-ers. And at around £10 a bag cheaper than Comprehansive.

Rio in particular became moody and grumpy on TS, although this was helped by supplementing magnesium. She wasn't the only one at our place affected by it either so my theory is that it upsets the mineral balance on top of our grazing somehow.
