Don't know if it's me or not Gail, but she seems to be taking shorter strides with her off hind? If you envisage walking beside her, in step with her, the steps seem uneven.

Looks to me like a way of going rather than lameness, if that makes sense. She's fabulous in traffic that's for sure, but I'm not convinced that's a SJ, long distance riding horse Gail. This could be a story in two years time, where we are all proved wrong and you find her to be a little gem. Any word from the dealer?

You can't really see the way of going very well with the poor quality of the vid. She does look fantastic in traffic though, not very helpful, I know.

cant believe the vid is that bad, its perfect before i load it onto photobucket..grrr..
I think she is stepping short in that video too..
The dealer rang us back..shock horror..lol..they want to come down and see her, of course i got the ,we dont need a lame horse back and she was ok when she left here. Anyway they are coming down probably the begining of next week some time, shall we put bets on her being perfectly sound that day..lol...or they bully me into keeping her..anyone wanna come and back me up...

my mare has a habit of walking a bit short with one of her hinds.she is very tense and holds her head high most of the time is spooky(not with traffic) and i have decided to start her again.she has seen dentist, vets, farriers, physios etc and all say she is fine. i recently discovered that she seems very tight in her pelvis and after getting out a chiro i will probably start her from scratch if things work out...i think with my girl she will come right and its just because she has spent alot of time scared and unsure that she is so stiff and wonky im not sure this helps but good luck with dealer...

Hey Gail, Sorry to hear it's all come to a head like this. I would be doing the same in your position. There's been some brilliant legal advise on the other thread but I have just a few questions.. *In the vid's I've watched I've only seen the pone ridden on the right rein but when she's ridden on the left rein will she strike off into canter correctly or incorrectly? *How old is she? (sorry if I've missed that vital bit of info somewhere!?) * Has an Osteopath seen her? Her off hind is definately stepping short- the vid is difficult to see but it looks like an unevenness through the pelvis - like it's dropped to the right... Easy to sort out with regular osteo visits and correct exersize (depending on age) In my heart of hearts I honestly (hope you dont take offence) dont feel that this lovely little mare is going to be a jumping/long distance pony She is adorable but she may not tick all your daughters boxes ... I hope you get a good result from all this - it's such a shame she's not sound. I dont envy your job re the meeting with the dealers.... Quite often they're so blind they cannot tell a lame horse anyhow! I saw 3 on my travels this year when trying to buy one - and I had 8k to spend! Price means nothing it seems. I had my heart set on one mare - took the vid of me riding and jumping to my osteopath for her to view and she spotted it straight away!! It took a few slow motion viewings of it for me to realise - so I kept my money for a bit longer.... thing was the dealer was a trainee osteopath and took great offence - lol

But looking at that vid, could it not have been a bump in transit? Perhaps a rest would cure it? She's 8 Lisa.

Didnt they arrange the tranpsort Gail??? So they should be insured IF Elsa did any damage whilst transported. Although I suspect that Elsa has not been right from the start. Shame this has happened. JL just wants to play doesnt she...
Is it M that you have coming down from the dealers??

She is definitely short on her off hind in both the videos. What is she like at a faster gait? It could be something minor - but my TB has a very similar action in walk - and he has a snapped ligament in the stifle joint and is retired.

ok so at 8 she would be fully developed and should have received enough work to fitten her at least once.... sometimes the younger ones show weaknesses behind similar to this whilst developing/fittening. Needs very careful monitoring but can come right.
The other thing which springs to mind is stifle OCD (Osteochondrosis) (SP!)... The action behind is regular but uneven; OCD can cause this action wether it's stifle or fetlock.
imo I'd start with the pelvis for sure - a decent Osteopath would help
