Exploring Dressage Technique, Journey Into the Art of Classical Riding by Paul Belasik. ISBN 0-85131-606-9 I ordered two copies of this book by mistake so have one going begging. I'll pop it in the post to the first person that PMs me. I don't want anything for it although if you'd like to make a little donation to the IH charity via Lorraine L that would be nice ;D P.S. it's still in a pile of books I have yet to read, so I don't know if it's a good read or not, maybe someone else may be able to review it for us

Still not read it Louise, half way through a Sylvia Loch at the mo, amongst other books. Must learn to read one at a time! I have skimmed the first few pages mind you and thought it was one I'd have to save for when I can give it my full attention, not light reading for a dressage numpty like myself I don't think :-)

I'm mid way thro the trilogy Riding towards the Light, Exploring Dressage Technique and The Songs of Horses.. I have them as one book in the Essential Paul Belasik.. All three could be re-named Zen and the art of Riding... I love them.. and am really thinking I should audit his clinic in November.. www.paulbelasik.com/Clinics.htm As I implied above the books are really far more to do with the human physcology of riding than detailed descriptions of aids.. and specifically Paul Belasiks journey.. they are written from this perspecive as a kind of memoranum of how he found "the way" This might not be everyone's cup of tea but I think there are close parallels Paul's approach and Mark Rashids.. I started a thread that was vaguely inspired by Paul Belasik's writing here ihdg.proboards91.com/index.cgi?board=workshop&action=display&thread=82736

Hmmm, you mentioned one of my favourite names there Zuzan, Mark Rashid :-) Sort of inspires me to finally get down to reading Exploring Dressage Technique.

Zuzan - definitely looks like it's worth auditing for him. Your links are also interesting - thanks!

I have ridden at a few of Paul's clinics, and also been out to dinner with him a couple of times , he originally trained as an artist and mentioned that he wrote Riding Towards the Light in an attempt to bring both art and technique together.

Strange I also like Mark Rashid, although there are similarities between him and Paul - they are also poles apart.
Think Paul is trying to say that you have to find your own path whatever that may be.
