Ana's post is below:
VERY URGENT – 2 old horses need homes!!! (Or they will go to meat)
I’m so sorry for posting this here… but I really can’t think of a better place to put it!!!!
A Stud I know wants to cut expenses and is sending the 2 older horses away… to meat (a thing they usually do, I’m ashamed to say)
I know both horse and mare personally and they are so sweet… they don’t deserve to end like this, and they are still much in shape physically and mentally!
The stud keeper asks 300€ for each to let them go… he will not give them away. This is how much as he will get for selling them to the meat men!
I can’t have them but I would like to help someone who could provide them a good permanent home!!! Please…. It just breaks my heart imagining them having such a terrible end!
GAMBOA
A pure bred Lusitano mare, approved for breeding, registry can be seen here: www.snc.min-agricultura.pt/stud/ ... ecno=50540
She is healthy, sweet and friendly to human mare. Very safe to ride and suitable for children. She lives out 24/7 and is the leader of the herd. This year and last year’s foals were born dead. She would make a perfect companion horse.
Gamboa with her last foal 3 years ago
Gamboa in April
HEBRAICO
The stallion is Hebraico, a chestnut Portuguese crossbred. I will be 19 this year. He is about 15,2 H height and well schooled in dressage. He is used as school and beginners horse. He is kept on a stall all the time.
He has bone spavin in both hocks (probably much cause by the way he was in a stall all those years) but he is ok with light work. He is a happy and willing to work horse and very responsive to the leg aids. He currently shows a scar along the belly side, caused by a horse attack.
Just two months ago I made a wonderful hack outside with the horse… and he was so happy and full of life!
Hebraico in reverence
PLEASE CONTACT ME IF YOU'RE WILLING TO HELP!!!!
Copied the above from Ana at EE she lives in Portugal. Horses can be transported for about £750 to UK.
Just thought I'd put it on here just in case anyone was looking for a dressage schoolmaster and didn't mind an oldie.
