As requested, I am posting here pictures of the mares and youngsters at the farm in Belgium where I keep my horses that the farmer wants to get rid of.
As mentioned in my other thread, they are not unhealthy or difficult, just redundant as the microchip is becoming compulsary and quite expensive.
Sorry if the pictures aren't very good - some of the horses are in a very dark stable (3 per stable of 10x14) and I can't take pictures but I do have pics I took last year or recently.
Happy (I named her) is a 15hhish piebald mare. Apparently she was travelling with a circus before the farmer bought her. She's had two foals at the farm. She's a lovely mare, has recently been hacked alone by the farmer boy and doesn't put a foot wrong but she's got no topline probably due to lack of work and wrong diet. She's said to be 9. Asked price: 1500 euros
Bay mare is another broodmare who arrived from a dealer last year with a filly at foot. She's approx. 15.2hh and very pretty. She's very sensitive and head shy but will trust a good owner if given the chance. She's defintely a one-person horse. We don't know if she's been backed - farm boy sat on her and she didn't buck, just moved away. She's said to be 5. Picture shows her with her filly I'll be mentioning later. 1250 euros
Honey is a rising two (in May) haflinger type filly-- she's chubby and "good to be killed" as the farmer says. She's been handled a little as a filly (she shared my lads field and I manipulated her). She's a bit of a madam, but very nice and sensible. 800 euros
The foals and the bay mare's filly are together in a (much bigger than before) stable. They're all being fattened up right now and I'm worried about the little filly as she's being bullied and mounted by the haflinger male and I wouldn't want such a young mare to be in-foal. She's also been very shocked by the weaning as she was very close to her mum and always looks sad - probably the reason why she isn't shedding her disgustingly dirty coat yet. Both male foals are also for meat. The bay foal is a great little soul, he's Happy's foal. About 700 euros
