If only we already had our own place with land...
So glad that most seem to have found homes, and hope the others have somewhere safe to go to soon.
Well done Jenny, Gem and Paula xxx

They are such stunning horses - I wish that there was something that we could do, but four is simply not an option at all.
I know that Amersham is a huge focus at the moment - and so it should be, but is there any way of highlighting what is going on over there and their plight?
I guess it is a double edged sword though - as bringing a number of them over here simply to turn over quickly and sell out for large profit (as some obviously would) may not be a much improved situation for the horses...?

Actually it would - these horses will mostly be bought by the local gypsies and forced to be carraige horses with little feed awful ideas on shoeing. In Hungary horses dont live more than 12/13 years old - 10 is old and most will die at 8 - 10. Even the ridden horses dont get much further than 13. Maria who is a vet out there is so desperate to help them - even if we could find a nice decent dealer who would rehome these horses would be better than what they are facing to be honest.

I know Kerry, Cosworth is 13 and still going strong, it was very sad to think that he'd have been dead long ago if he lived over there

I;m not sure I understand - do the gypsies pay 7k for them? I would have thought that with that kind of money they would look after their investment or have I missed something?

They are probably around the 2k mark there. The costs escalate when you import them because of the transport, vet work and documentation needed to get them over here.
Gypsies value horses - not necessarily in the way we do - and I have seen gypsies paying 4k for a nice coloured cob, at Southall market, more than 20 years ago.

Wow - I really thought that they wouldn't be interested in spending out on them at all. It's a shame transport is so much as it makes it very expensive for an unbroken youngster. Poor things though, wouldn't wish a life as hard as that which makes you die that much earlier before your time on anyone
