He he - bit of a longshot ;D
I'm collecting a rescue mare tomorrow Wednesday 12/03/08 and apparently last time they tried to load her it took 5 hours :-(
I'm taking lorry, loading panels and one spare pair of hands ... but if anyone's been lurking and is near Sarlat would LOOOOOVE to hear from you.

Hi Gill, sorry for delayed response - PC problems I spend FAR too much time trawling rescue sites, now have a 14hh who was a by-product of a court case! She'd not been caught for 2 years, had reduced her wooden stable to match sticks before that, and certified as unteachable by the riding centre who were supposed to 'break' her hahaha. It took us 4 hours to catch her (had to resort to lassoo in the end ;D ) 20 minutes to load and I've spent the last 48 hours showing her advance/retreat in the safety of a large stable (4m x 5m) Yesterday she was turned out in a small paddock next to the rest of the herd and allowed herself to be caught again last night. Think I'll be repeating this for a few days till the behaviour is ingrained ;D

Does she have a name? When are we going to see photos? 20 minutes to load?- wow, I'm impressed, well done! I'm kind of glad I only have two small paddocks and can't possibly take on any more than my two lads - there are just so many horses out there and I'd be sorely tempted otherwise..... There's a beautiful NZ TB (ex polo pony retired by hock injury but sold to her current owner as hackable) near me that desperately needs rehoming - she's got huge separation anxiety issues and hasn't been ridden since she reared and threw her rider. She has a very uncertain future as her owner will have her put down if she can't find a home soon.....

20 minutes to load?- wow, I'm impressed, well done! Loading has been REALLY easy since I got some lightweight fencing panels and started using them as loading panels: (sorry about photo size, I've tried to resize but that keeps crashing the window ...) www.equinerescuefrance.org/14.htmlShe's beautfiul Marianne - and such a sweetie. She didn't know me from Adam (I was helping the owner with some 'traduction' for the farrier - suspected abscess on her other horse) and Summer was whickering and nuzzling me over the leccie fence. We went through all the options but her OH won't let her get another horse or two (they seem to have loads of room - too much grass) to keep the mare company and they want to ride. What can I say, not something I could ever do even if it meant I'd never ride my own horses again but each to their own I suppose. (I'm crossing every finger and toe I possess here - 'please let Marianne fall in love, please let Marianne fall in love....." !!!!)

here's Princess, Gill ... one week on, settling in nicely and today took her first step TOWARDS me - as opposed to standing her ground defensively but allowing me to approach ... [sorry I can't help with Summer :-( ]
