Hi there I'm just wondering who my neighbours are in the DG? I live in a village in the Brigg area of North Lincs and feel a bit lonely

Hi jennyb Nice areas round Lincoln. How are your fields coping with all the rain?

Fine, we have sandy soil and are about as elevated as you get for Lincolnshire! They are obviously squidgy underfoot and have puddles in the gateways, but they're not underwater or mudbaths or anything. The arena is worse than the fields are!
What about yours?

We're not too bad here at the moment, it was much worse last summer! I've got to say I'm very lucky where my horses are. I have the choice of 4 paddocks 'coz there's only me renting the land and it's private DIY. A couple of the paddocks retain the water a bit but they all slope towards the stream in the middle, but when that overflows...........!
Hi Mags & Dan! The rain is falling again and the people who don't have horses don't understand when we say 'oh no not again!' do they?! There are areas in North Lincs that are more clay and it's terrible for sucking shoes off and straining ligaments isn't it?
*sigh* roll on spring

Helloo Lincolnshire peeps! Potentially moving to a bit of nothingness south of Lincolnshire and thinking that I'd work in Lincoln - anyone have any recommendations for good recruitment agencies? I'm HR/H&S/Facilities/projects and a little bit scared of moving...! Ihave a greatlife here in Cheltenham/Bristol and I need my big girl pants on and just get on with it!

I don't know any agencies that deal with that side of things, I only know the accountancy ones! Lincolnshire is lovely when you get used to it, a slower pace of life than most counties but it's good! I see from another post you might be moving to Cranwell - I apologise in advance for my husband shattering your peace with his aerobatic displays...

Hi LambChop I'm in North Lincs so not really so familiar with the southern parts, but if you go on yell.com and look up riding schools there are quite a few come up in Lincoln area.

Uh oh, yes he does, has he been spotted already?!
If you're living at Cranwell, Elms Farm isn't too far from you. Trudi there is training me for my Stage 3, I'm getting on well with her. I rode at Cranwell Saddle Club once - nuff said!!!

Visited Cranwell to have a look at the housing/base/saddle club and work opportunities in Linconln. Not sure about any of it to be honest...it's a big move and has to be right for both of us. I bring in half our household income and that would drop going to Lincoln and it's a 3 year tour for OH so we'd be back in Gloucestershire after that so just blows a hole in my career presently. Hmm - dontcha just love the Forces! Saddle club facilities are OK so wondered about taking a horse on loan for a couple of years.... Will check out Elms Farm for training then Thanks for taking the time to input - much appreciated.

Hmm, have a look at cost of living round here though, it might well be cheaper than Gloucestershire. I do agree, having a career and being married to the Forces isn't easy!
Check with the Saddle Club - I'm not sure they do anything other than working livery....

I used to work in Lincoln for A Mr Baker who had the riding school (Park???) near the Carholme racecourse/common. Is it still going? they used to do the forces thing on a sunday afternoon.
