Silversnaffles must ask you where did you get your name 'silversnaffles' from?
I remember reading a pony book as a child many many years ago and the name was in the book, i think it was a password? or name of the story!

Hurrah somebody knows!! It's actually a very rare book. My mother borrowed from a friend as a child and could never find it, so I hunted it down and bought it as a christmas present a few years ago. Of course I had to read it first...."you go down the passage and the password is silversnaffles..." It's all about ponies who can speak and who educate their riders into treating them better, (some ponies in the book are very stern!) Anyhow, thought it fitted with the IH theme x x

Hurrah somebody knows!! It's actually a very rare book. Anyhow, thought it fitted with the IH theme x x I had a copy of this when I was a child - in hardback, and also The Wednesday Pony by the same author, Primrose Cumming. No idea what happenend to them. They would be worth a fortune now. I managed to get a copy of The Wednesday Pony at a second hand equestrian book stall at YHLive about 5 years ago, and it was about £20, bit Silver Snaffles which was also there was over £60! Anyway I have always asked in second hand book dealers and last year one found me a copy - not the original but a new papreback. It has the original illustrations. It is published by Fidra books www.fidrabooks.com who "specialise in reprinting some of the best children's fiction of the 20thC. by reissuing these books we are enabling collectors to acquire the books they have been searching for and also bringing the books to a new generation of readers"

I managed to get a PB too, not the HB I wanted but they were at £100 plus when I was looking. I love love love old pony books, we have pretty much every one that there was (We have 2 Wednesday Pony's I believe). I think that there is a lot to be learnt from them really (good and bad things), but Silversnaffles is very special indeed, if every child read that book before going near a pony then maybe it would solve a lot of problems later on!! x x
